Morning.
The Casino Boss and Pat come walking in the door together.
The Casino Boss looks rough with Pat looking like she had a hard night.
Max looks at his watch.
MAX
You guys barely beat the
clock.
CASINO BOSS
Better late than never.
MAX
Time to hit the floor. Boss
stick around I need to talk to
you. Better yet come on up to
my office.
The Casino Boss watches the crew as they walk out the door.
Max motions for Boss to follow him to his office as they walk out the door.
Max watches the monitors as they enter his office.
CASINO BOSS
How's the world been treating
You?
MAX
( looking stern )
It's been treating me alright,
but I'm not happy with the way
and the reports I have been
getting around here.
Max pointing to the monitor showing Pat's table. Pat propped on her elbows watching Bart.
MAX ( CONT'D )
Get rid of her now. She doesn't
have the expertise we are looking
for here. I'm beginning to wonder
if you do.
Casino Boss watches Pat staring at Bart on the monitors, turns to Max.
CASINO BOSS
I'll go down stairs and let her
go now Sir.
MAX
Boss, I don't want to see you slipping
out of here with any more employees.
CASINO BOSS
Yes Sir; no more problems.
MAX
Now go do your job. I don't want
to hear anything else coming out
of here about you either.
The Casino Boss walks out of Max's office to Pat's table motioning for her to follow him in his office.
Bart looks up from his table to see Pat walking into the Casino Bosses office.
Pat walks behind the Casino Bosses chair and starts massaging his shoulders.
PAT
You feel like hell too?
CASINO BOSS
Worse than hell. I have some bad
news for you.
PAT
What's wrong Hun? Did Max chew
you out?
The Casino Boss takes Pat hands off his shoulders and holds her hands.
CASINO BOSS
In some ways. Max told me to let
you go. That's the last thing I want
to do. I like having you around here.
Pat pulls her hands away from the Casino Boss and puts them to her face crying.
Casino Boss reaches in his pocket and pulls out a hundred and places it in Pat's hand.
CASINO BOSS
This should be enough for a bus
ticket back home. I'm sorry Hun.
Casino Boss walks out of his office to the Casino floor with a frown on his face as he gets to
Lee' table he turns around to see Pat stomping out the Casino door. Lee turns his head watching Pat leave.
Then he turns to Casino Boss.
LEE
She quit?
CASINO BOSS
Not exactly. Max had me fire her
you'd better get busy or you'll be
next he's watching everyone close,
even me.
The Casino Boss walks off from Lee back to his office. Lee goes back to dealing the cards.
Bart is shuffling the cards by hand putting on a show for his table.
LATER THAT DAY
Lee is feeling perky when a young lady sets down at his table in a black dress with long blonde hair,
she smiles at him and he smiles back at her.
LEE
You have to be the prettiest thing
I have seen all day.
The Lady blushes.
LADY
Thank you sir. I don't get
compliments like that too often.

LEE
As beautiful as you are you
Should. I get off in five minutes
think we could have a drink
together?
LADY
I don't see why not.
LEE
Oh by the way I'm Lee.
LADY
I'm Kate.
LEE
Kate it's a pleasure to meet you.
Lee takes Kate's hand and kisses it. Lee walks around the table when his relief shows up taking
Kate's hand and walking off with her.
Bart goes into the employee lounge with the Casino Boss behind him.
BART
Well how did your day go Sir?
CASINO BOSS
Shitty. Max made me fire Pat.
Bart looks surprised.
BART
Why Pat? I figured it would be
Lee if anyone.
CASINO BOSS
I think a lot of it had to do with
me dating her. Max was about
to get rid of me too. You never
know about that man. But screw
him let's go get a drink.
Bart and the Casino Boss walk out of the employee lounge to the bar where Lee and Kate are setting.
Lee waves to them motioning for them to come over to his table.
Bart and the Casino Boss walk to Lee's table looking at Kate's beauty.
LEE
Bart and Boss I would like for
you to meet Kate. Isn't she the
prettiest thing around here?
The Casino Boss stares at Kate. Bart holds his hand out to shake Kate's hand.
BART
Glad to meet you Kate.
CASINO BOSS
Damn you are pretty.
Kate blushes.
KATE
Thank you. It's a pleasure to
meet you two.
LEE
You got more new dealers coming
in Boss?
CASINO BOSS
There should be a school of new
ones out next week.
BART
Any good ones?
CASINO BOSS
You never know what's coming out
of the schools till they hit the floor.
The Casino Boss orders a round of drinks for the table.
Lee raises his glass and winks at Kate and the Casino Boss.
LEE
Here's to the new dealers.
Kate, Bart and the Casino Boss raise their glasses to the cheer.
As the group was doing the cheer Max walks in the bar area looking around.
Casino Boss sees him and Yells.
CASINO BOSS
Max come on over and join us.
We were just cheering the new
dealers.
Max walks over to the table with a concerned look on his face. Looking at Bart and Lee then the Casino Boss.
MAX
Boss don't you take head to
anything I tell you. You need
to read the company policy
AGAIN.
CASINO BOSS
We were just having a drink.
Celebrating the new dealers
coming on board.
Max walks off shaking his head. Once Max was out of sight.
CASINO BOSS ( CONT'D)
Screw him. He can't tell me what
to do after hours.
Bart stands up looks at everyone around the table.
BART
Well it is company policy for
management not to socialize
with the employees. I think
I'm going to call it a night.
See you guys in the AM,
Kate it was a pleasure meeting
you.
CASINO BOSS
Set back down Bart the nights
still young.
The Casino Boss waves the waitress down.
CASINO BOSS (CONT'D)
Bring us another round.
Bart walks off.
INT.CASINO-DAY
Bart walks into the employee lounge to find Max setting there drinking coffee. Bart looks at Max then at his watch as he sets down.
MAX
I didn't realize you all were
so close.
BART
We are not that close, it was
just a coincidence that we all
went to the lounge.
MAX
Is there going to be a problem
separating yourself from your
coworkers?
BART
No Sir. I'm usually a loner.
MAX
That's what I thought until last
night seeing all of you together.
BART
You want have to worry about
that happening again sir.
Lee and the Casino Boss walk in the employee lounge.
Max looks at his watch and points to the door.
Bart stands up and walks to the floor.
Bart goes to his table and grabs a deck of cards and starts shuffling by hand.
People walking by Bart's table watching him shuffle.
A middle-aged lady dressed in a flowered dress with a distinguished look sets down at the table.
Bart looks at her and smiles, she looks at him with her sour look.
BART
All bets placed.
Bart starts dealing.
Handing the lady a two and himself a king.
Then Bart deals the lady a five and himself a queen.
The lady looks at her cards with her sour look and motions for Bart to deal another card.
Bart deals her a king.
BART
Dealer has twenty paying
the point.
Bart looks at the lady her facial expressions had not changed at all.
Another lady sat down next to the sour lady. This one was all smiles
She had on a blue pants outfit. She looked at the sour lady and smiled as she placed her chips on the table .
BART
All chips in. Dealer dealing.
Bart deals the sour lady a seven and the smiling lady a queen, himself a eight.
Bart smiles at both ladies and continues dealing giving the sour one a nine and the other one an ace with himself a ten.
Bart hands the smiling lady more chips.
BART
Eighteen paying nineteen.
The sour lady gets up from the table not saying a word. The smiling lady looks at her getting up.
SMILING LADY
I'd hate to have her life not being
able to enjoy it.
Bart gives her a big smile and she smiles back.
BART
It takes all kinds of people to
make the world go around.
Bart continues to deal putting on a show for the smiling lady.
The smiling lady won most of the hands at Bart's table.
EXT.CASINO-EVENING
Bart walks past Lee's table as he was walking to the lounge.
Bart sees Lee talking to pretty a Red headed lady in a black dress with a expensive
looking gold necklace hanging around her neck.
LEE
Do you have a favorite spot in
town you care to go for a drink?
RED HEADED LADY
There is a quiet place down the street
that's peaceful.
Lee walks around his table and holds his arm out.
LEE
That will be our place then.
Lee and the Red head walk out holding hands.
INT.LOUNGE-EVENING
Bart walks into the lounge and sets down at a table orders a drink.
Bart looks at the crowd of people in the lounge area spotting a dark headed lady around
thirty with a short skirt on with real pretty legs.
Her hair was short. The lady turns around looks at Bart as to say, you have noticed me now offer me a drink.
�Bart motions for the waitress to bring the lady a drink. The lady gets her drink turning around on the
bar stool tipping her glass at Bart,
she then walks over to the table. She looks at Bart as he motions for her to set down.
LADY
Hi, I want to thank you
for the drink. My name is
Sue and yours?
BART
Hi Sue, My name is Bart and
I am very pleased to meet you.
SUE
The pleasure is all mine. You must
be new in town for I sure haven't
seen you around here before.
BART
I have been here for a few months
Now. You from here?
Sue
Not originally. I'm from Tucson,
Arizona originally.
BART
( excited tone )
No kidding , that's where I
am from.
SUE
I use to work at a dealership
there and moved here after quitting
my job there I tried dealing in the
Casino but that didn't work.
BART
Sue, your not going to believe this
but your life story sounds like mine.
I'm still at the Casino dealing.
SUE
What's the odds of meeting someone
from your home town with your same
life story?
BART
I wouldn't have put any odds on it.

Bart and Sue laugh. Bart orders another round of drinks.
BART
You any good at counting cards?
SUE
I never did learn that part of it .
Can you?
Bart smiles real big at Sue.
BART
Yes, I have learned that part.
SUE
That's an art that very few master.
BART
I guess, I am blessed then.
SUE
Can you teach me?
BART
I can try if you really want
to learn?
SUE
I would love for you to teach
me how. Can you do it now?
BART
Sure, lets find a table.
Bart and Sue get out of the chairs and walk to the tables. Bart points to a table that's not busy.
Bart and Sue set down placing their chips on the table.
BART
Keep your eyes on the dealer
and remember what cards he
has dealt.
SUE
This is not going to be easy.
BART
It's not something you learn
over night.
DEALER
All chips in . Dealers dealing.
The dealer deals Bart a seven and Sue a queen and himself a six.
Bart watches the dealer as he deals.
The dealer deals Bart a king and Sue a queen and himself a ten.
Bart splits Sues two queens. Sue looks at Bart.
The dealer deals Sue a eight on one queen and an ace on the other queen.
DEALER
Dealer has sixteen paying seventeen.
Sue hugs Bart as she rakes in the chips.
The dealer ask for a relief after ten hands of Bart and Sue winning.
Sue looks Bart in the eyes.
SUE
Bart, I have had a lot of fun
I'm still not able to count the
cards like you do.
BART
It takes practice to perfect it keep
trying.
Bart looks at his watch and Sue hers.
SUE
Bart, I don't want to end this
wonderful evening but
have to go to work tomorrow.
BART
I have really enjoyed your
company tonight. Can I see you
again?
Bart and Sue walk out of the Casino to Sue's car.
Bart kisses Sue, a long passionate kiss as she gets into her car.
Bart starts walking back to his truck when he sees Lee's car parked next to his truck and a figure slumped down in the seat.
Bart rushes over to Lee's car to check the slumped figure out.
Bart yanks the car door open to find Lee slumped over the wheel with a needle sticking out his arm.
Bart takes his pulse but it's too late.
Bart gets to his truck and grabs his cell phone and dials 911, after giving them the address,
Bart goes back to Lee's car and yanks the needle out of his arm and throws it. Bart looks at Lee's body slumped over the wheel.
BART
( angry )
You stupid damn fool,
you had the world going
for you and you blew it.
The ambulance arrives and puts Lee's body in a black bag. Bart shakes his head as the ambulance drives off.
INT.CASINO-DAY
Bart walks into the employee lounge the Casino Boss is the only one in there drinking coffee. Bart looks at him.
BART
Looks like I am the only one
out of our four that's left.
CASINO BOSS
Why What's happened to Lee?
BART
I found him setting in his car with
a needle jammed in his arm.
CASINO BOSS
Oh shit, That dumb ass. He had the
world going for him. All those chicks
and cars a fine place. I told him that
drugs would do him in eventually.
Bart looks at his watch and walks out the door with the Casino Boss burying his head in his hands.
Bart picks up a deck of cards and starts shuffling them by hand trying to draw an audience to his table.
The Casino wasn't busy today like it usually is.
Bart looks over the Casino, there was Lee's table empty, Troy's table was empty and there was a relief on Pat's table.
A lump came in Bart's throat as he was reminiscing.
�Bart turned around hearing voices. It was his little old ladies.
Bart smiles at the little old ladies as he shuffles the cards in his hands,
BART
Well Hello Ladies.
LITTLE OLD LADY
It's that nice young man that we
beat last time we were here.
BART
You ladies going to take it easy
on me today?
LITTLE OLD LADY
Hell no , We came to win.
Bart laughs.
BART
Chips in, Everyone ready?
LITTLE OLD LADY
Quit the Yapping and start
dealing.
Bart deals the cards giving the first lady a six the next one a eight the next one a queen and the next one a ten and himself a seven.
Bart looks at the ladies and starts dealing again.
Bart deals the one with a six a king.
Bart deals the one with the eight a nine.
Bart deals the one with the queen a ace. She jumps up screaming.
Bart deals the one with a ten a nine.
Bart deals himself a queen.
BART
Dealer has seventeen paying eighteen.
Bart slides chips over to the winners getting looks from the losers.
BART
Chips in Ladies, Dealer
Dealing.
Bart deals the first one an ace, she jumps up screaming.
Bart deals the next one a nine she gives Bart a mean look.
Bart deals the next one a king.
Bart deals the next one a seven.
Bart deals himself a two.
Bart looks around the table smiling, getting some smiles back.
Bart deals a nine to the ace.
Bart deals a king to the nine.
Bart deals a seven to the king.
Bart deals a queen to the seven .
Bart deals himself a five, then deals a king.
BART
Dealer has seventeen paying eighteen.
Bart slides the chips to two of the ladies with the others giving him mean looks.
Bart smiles at the ladies and turns around to see Max watching him.
BART
Pleasant surprise seeing you here.
LITTLE OLD LADY
Deal the Damn cards.
Bart looks at her and at Max and smiles.
BART
Yes Mam.
Bart starts dealing when there's a gun shot sound coming from the Casino Bosses office.
Bart looks at Max and Max motions for Bart to follow him.
Bart waves his arm for relief.
MAX
Come on you don't have time
for a relief.
Bart runs after Max to the Casino Bosses office.
They open the door to find the Casino Boss slumped in his chair with a pistol by his side.
Blood running down his head. Max walks over to the phone and dials 911.
After giving the 911 the address, Max turns to Bart.
MAX
I was going to fire him today
if you said you would take the job.
He always said I would never fire
Him, I guess he was right.
BART
I gave you my answer the first day
you told me about this.
MAX
That was before I showed my ass
in front of you.
BART
You have to do what a man has
to do sometimes.
MAX
I guess your our new Casino Boss.
If you really want it?
BART
You bet I do.
Max smiles at Bart and shakes his hand.
The ambulance squad put the Casino Boss in a black bag and roll him off.
Bart looks at Max.
BART
It's been one hell of a month
around here.
Max put his arm around Bart's shoulder.
MAX
It sure has son, lets grab
some lunch.
Max and Bart walk out of the Casino office to the restaurant.
MAX ( CONT'D )
My treat order anything you want.
After lunch I'll take you around
the building and introduce you to
the rest of the gang. I'll get you
the manuals on how I want this
place ran. Not the way you have
seen it running.
BART
You'll be pleased with the way
its ran I'm sure.
MAX
I'm sure I will.
Bart and Max eat lunch and make the rounds for the rest of the day.
Max showing Bart where everything is kept including the manuals.
SEVERAL DAY LATER
INT.CASINO-DAY
Bart walks into the employee's lounge four new dealers are setting there in their uniforms. Three men and one lady.
The men are mid twenties and the lady is a cute dark headed girl in her thirties.
BART
I'm your Casino Boss, if there
are any questions or problems
just let me know. I want to know
everything good or bad going on
around here. I suggest you follow
the manuals that have been given
to you. I will and expect you to.
NEW DEALER
Sure thing Dude.
Bart shakes his head and points to his watch.
