The wind blows his cloak AROUND his body.

EXT. OF HOUSE-KATIE

She is slinking towards the house QUICKLY. She arrives in the front yard and DUCKS behind the car as she sees gunman 1 and the Yimas. They are talking, but the wind doesn’t allow her to hear them. Soon though, they walk out of VIEW and she takes her initiative.
and then ducks down again and crawls against the wind UP to the house and INSIDE.


INT. OF HOUSE

Katie slams the door behind her and, not wanting to look at the DEAD BODIES in the living room, sprints past and straight UPSTAIRS and into a room and SLAMS THE DOOR BEHIND HER. She backs up until she hits the wall. She looks fearfully at the door, thinking someone is going to come in at any time. When no one does, she slumps to the ground, a SOB escaping her.
She relaxes and puts her head in her hands. Her body shakes from her crying.

She raises her head and we can
see the FEAR and GRIEF in them. Tears are streaking her face along with
the dirt and blood. Then she sobs again and puts her head in her hands.

PAN BACK

Katie is alone in the corner of the room, slumped against the wall, CRYING.

EXT. OF HOUSE-SEMI TRUCK

The dogcatcher is at the door, opening up KENNELS. The dogs are waiting impatiently for their master to release them. When he has opened about five of them, he yells to them.

DOGKEEPER
Go get her!

The dogs spring forward, their barks ECHOING across the night as they go in search of their PREY.

DOGKEEPER
You’re as good as ours baby.

The cries of the dogs can be heard as they RUN after Katie, in search of the scent.

INT. OF HOUSE

FIRST PERSON POV

Through SOMEONE’S eyes, we are walking down the upstairs hallway. We look to the
right, and we see the bedroom where Katie and Tommy once were in. Then we CONTINUE ON. We get to a door on the LEFT
that is partially open.
We go into the door silently.
As the door pushes open, we see an empty room. Then, as we progress, we see KATIE searching the nearby dresser for something.

EXIT POV--INT. OF BEDROOM

Katie FLIPS around as she hears the noise behind her. It is now clear that is Sean, or Yima 2,
standing at the doorway. She BACKS up against the DRESSER.

KATIE’S HANDS

Behind her back, she reaches in the dresser for something she found while she was looking.

KATIE
What do you want?

YIMA 2/SEAN
I am here for you.

KATIE
Well you’re not getting me.

Her hands grasp an object and she flips it out. It is a GUN. It is old and rustic, but perhaps still works. She POINTS it at Sean.

Sean makes no facial expressions and starts aiming towards Katie.
Katie PULLS THE TRIGGER. Nothing happens. She pulls it again and still no shot. Katie throws down the gun and starts inching towards the window.

KATIE
Please don’t hurt me.

YIMA 2/SEAN
I will not. My orders are to simply detain you.

KATIE
No. I won’t let you take me. I won’t.

YIMA 2/SEAN
You have no choice in the matter.

The Yima springs forward, but Katie reacts just as quickly and lurches out the OPEN WINDOW.

Chapter 31

EXT. OF HOUSE

Katie is dangling precariously on the ledge of the window. She SCALES it to the left, avoiding the Yima’s grasp as the hand comes out to grab her.
She makes her way UP to the ROOFTOP, where she climbs up the steep SLOPE.
She looks behind her and sees the Yima jump OUT of the window and onto the roof in ONE motion.

KATIE
Leave me alone!

She is swayed by the WIND but she CONTINUES on, scaling the roof as best she can. She gets to the top and looks down.
GUNMAN 1 is there waiting for her, along with the dogcatcher.

GUNMAN 1
GIVE IT UP, KATIE!

KATIE
NO!!!!!!!

She runs along the top of the roof. She looks behind her and sees the Yima running towards her. She can’t OUTRUN him.

As she looks behind her, she looses her balance and TUMBLES DOWN THE ROOF!!

GUNMAN 1
NO! SAVE HER!

Out of nowhere comes Jack. He jumps in the air and catches Katie as she falls of the LEDGE and plummets to the GROUND. He lands with her in his arms. He sets her down. Katie sinks to the ground, weak and DIZZY.
She sits up, but doesn’t move. The gunman glares at her.

GUNMAN 1
You could have gotten yourself killed.

KATIE
I know.

DOGKEEPER
We need you alive.

GUNMAN 1
Thank you for that insight.

The sarcasm is evident in his voice.

GUNMAN 1
It is over Katie. Everyone has been eradicated that was of threat.

DOGKEEPER
Yeah. You’re ours.

GUNMAN 1 (to the dogkeeper)
Will you shut the hell up and let me talk?

DOGKEEPER
Fine boss.

The gunman turns to Katie.

GUNMAN 1
There is no more running Katie. This is it. All your friends are gone. It’s just us now and you can’t kill them. (he gestures towards the Yimas.)
Just give in. Just let yourself go to us. I know you want to.

Katie doesn’t respond. She just sits on the ground, a defeated expression on her face. She is DONE.

GUNMAN 1
All I’m going to do is give you this shot. One shot and you’ll start to evolve into a powerful being.

He takes out a SYRINGE from his pocket.

GUNMAN 1
You’ll thank me for this one day.

He BENDS DOWN and is about to INJECT the syringe into the docile Katie when he is SLAMMED in the head with a log. The force of the blow KNOCKS the syringe out of his grasp and he falls over on Katie.

As the gunman falls, TOMMY is revealed--bloody from his wound, but alive. Katie looks up at him in disbelief.

KATIE
Tommy?! You’re alive!!

Tommy is about to answer when a whistle sounds. Everyone looks over to see the DOGKEEPER whistling for his dogs, which are somewhere out in the woods. The dogs’ BARKS can be heard as they approach.

TOMMY
Oh God. Come on.

He leans in to help Katie when he is thrown back by the mind powers of THE YIMAS.

Chapter 32

KATIE
Tommy!

Yima 2 jumps high in the air, flipping and landing by Tommy. Immediately he attacks, flinging Tommy around.

Katie doesn’t have time to respond because the gunman mutters to the Yima (get her).

The Yima wastes no time. He advances on Katie once again. Katie, knowing she can’t fight him, TAKES OFF running into the woods. Yima 1 follows, gaining FAST.

--TOMMY

Sean is beating him bad. Tommy is already WEAK from his wounds. He crawls back on the ground, searching for something he can use as a WEAPON. He finds a log on the ground and grabs it.

TOMMY
Come on. Come and get me.

The Yima, not showing any emotion and the cloaks around him being blown around by the GUSTING wind, advances once again. Tommy gets back and RAISES the log behind his back.

--KATIE

She is running through the woods, trying to find somewhere to HIDE. She manages to look behind her only to find the Yima catching fast, the face with the black eyes staring STRAIGHT at her. Katie turns her head around and is greeted by--

TWO of the dogs that were loosed are now right in front of Katie. She stops DEAD in her tracks. In between the dogs is ZACK BAKER, still dressed in black.

Katie stops so fast that she slips and falls down. The dogs are GROWLING profusely. The Yima comes up from behind and stops as he sees ZACK. Zack smiles an evil smile.

ZACK
At last we meet.

KATIE
Who are you?!

ZACK
I am the creator. I designed the Yimas. I put them through the testing, I controlled the doses, I did everything that makes these two what they are today. And what do I get? I get tossed away by Rofana, saying that my services are no longer required. That’s bullshit. If it wasn’t for me they wouldn’t have these two here today.

KATIE
So what are going to do with me?

ZACK
Well I don’t really care what they do with you. I don’t want a new race.

Katie looks at him with RELIEF.

ZACK
But you have seen too much. You must die.

KATIE
NO!!

ZACK
I’m sorry.
(turning to Yima 1/Jack)
Finish her. Then come find me. We must leave at once. It will be daytime soon. I will summon your brother in a little bit to join us.

YIMA 1/JACK
Yes master.

Zack turns and walks away, the dogs walking WITH HIM. Katie, SHAKING from fear, turns to face Jack. The trees are BENDING BACK from the wind.

--TOMMY

Sean is advancing on him. Tommy reacts now and runs forward, SLAMMING the log into the Yima’s chest. The Yima reacts, grabbing Tommy and throwing him down to the ground.

The Yima throws the log aside and PULLS OUT a KNIFE. Tommy, groggy, can do nothing but sit and wait. The Yima advances, and, not hesitating, slams the knife DOWN into Tommy’s CHEST. Tommy makes a sound like a grunt of pain. He now has TWO wounds.

--KATIE
Yima 1/ Jack is coming towards Katie.

KATIE
PLEASE DON’T!

The Yima ignores her and grabs a log from the ground. He moves closer to Katie. He brings the log UP.

Katie lifts her right arm in a futile attempt to block it.
He hits her forearm.
We hear the CRACK of bone.

Katie SCREAMS!!! Her screams are heard above the roar of the wind and the pain is evident in her screams.
She GRABS her arm. She is STILL screaming in PAIN! Jack raises the log again, prepared to GO FOR THE KILL!

KATIE (Through tears)
PLEASE!! YOU ARE MY FATHER! I LOVE YOU!

YIMA 1/JACK
I...AM NOT...YOUR FATHER!!!!!!!!!

He raises the log.

Immediately after, YIMA 1/JACK IS IMPALED with a machete! He looks down at it. It is then pulled OUT. He drops the log and turns around, unhurt.

PAN AROUND

It is revealed that it is MICHELLLE standing there, machete in hand, a look of sheer determination ETCHED in her face. She stabs Yima 1/Jack again, and again nothing happens.

MICHELLE
KATIE, GET OUT OF HERE!

Yima 1/Jack hits Michelle. She is pummeled back and lands on the ground, machete in hand.

Yima 1/Jack lunges forward, going for THE KILL. As he gets in range, Michelle lets loose a yell of fury and throws the machete.
It gets Yima 1/Jack right in the NECK!!
Yima 1/Jack stops, surprised. He sways just SLIGHTLY. Then he pulls it OUT and with a rapid movement smashes the machete down, intending to get Michelle in the head.

Katie, however, LUNGES AT HIM and hits him so he is knocked of balance. Michelle takes the opportunity to grab the machete from Jack and throw it to Katie. It lands on the ground next to her. NO BLOOD comes from Jack’s wounds.

KATIE (O.S.)
MIHCELLE!!

Yima 1/Jack is looking back and forth between Katie and Michelle. Then a voice is heard over the wind and noise.

GUNMAN 1
That’s right. You will all die now!

GUNMAN 1--he is bloody from Tommy’s beating, and he is limping a little, but he is definitely alive. He is WALKING SLOWLY towards the three fighters.

GUNMAN 1
Katie, you shouldn’t have started this. You could have been something so much more than you are now! But now, your behavior has forced us to take these actions. It is too late.
Morning is about here. We can’t be seen. We must dispose of you two and be done and clean up this mess that you forced us to make.
(To Yima 1/Jack)
Destroy them all.
Chapter 33

YIMA 1/JACK (quietly)
Yes, master.

He pulls his hood BACK OVER HIS HEAD. His face is now hidden. He gets in position to make the kill. He pulls out a knife and RUSHES it through the air. Katie swerves out of the way, but the knife barely SLICES through her leg. She lets
out a scream.
Then she sees the machete. She looks back up at the figure. He is ready for another try at it. Katie looks around and frantically tries to figure out what to do. Yima 1/Jack walks slowly towards her. The wind is at its PEAK, with the trees bending as far as possible without BREAKING.

Katie has edged back all the way to gunman 1. Yima 1/Jack charges in to make the FINAL CUT, but Katie reaches behind her and GRABS gunman 1’s legs.
He is startled!
Katie PUSHES herself out of the way and throws him forward. Yima 1/Jack tries to pull back, but it is too late. He stabs gunman 1 in the CHEST!!!

Katie wastes no time. She struggles against the wind and her wounds, but manages to REACH Tommy and then she speedily GRABS the machete from Tommy’s chest and, with just a slightest bit of hesitation, MOVES
the machete up to Yima 1/Jack’s head.
Yima 1/Jack pulls back with LIGHTNING speed, but it doesn’t help any. Katie has already got the cut started. She CONTINUES THROUGH, and completes the motion. As she does, Yima 1/Jack takes action even AS his head is being TAKEN OFF.

He throws the knife with DEADLY accuracy. All he knows now is that he must ERADICATE Katie. Everything happens all at once, so it is tough to see what WENT ON. We hear Katie CRY OUT and she drops the machete.

ON KATIE

It is clear now what happened. The knife is stuck into her LEFT SHOULDER. She winces and pulls it out, CRYING OUT from the pain. She looks down at it. It is not LIFE threatening. Yima 1/Jack must have been off because his head was being DECAPITATED.

As she looks up at Yima 1/Jack--

SLO MO

All the wind and noise fades out. All we can hear is Katie’s HEARTBEAT. Yima 1/Jack is standing motionless. Then, the hood and Jack’s head slowly fall OFF.

KATIE’S FACE

Her face is covered in dirt, BLOOD and dried TEARS. She is breathing hard and is about to lose all sanity. This is just too much for her.

BACK TO YIMA 1/JACK

The decapitated body FALLS to the ground.

REGULAR SPEED--

The wind and noise return. Katie just SITS there-in shock. It is over.... She cannot believe it--

MICHELLE GROANS. She is broken out of her trance by the sounds.

KATIE
Michelle!

She kneels down and looks at her. She is breathing HEAVILY and there is a trail of blood coming out of her MOUTH.

KATIE
Oh God Michelle. We need to get you out of here. Come on.

She helps Michelle up and they start walking away.

Chapter 34

EXT. OF HOUSE

Katie and Michelle come limping in with Katie cradling her broken arm. They are slowly making their way up to the HOUSE.
Then they hear a GROAN. Katie looks over and cries out--!!

KATIE
Tommy! Oh God.

She briskly goes over to where Tommy is laying, the wounds that he has endured bleeding.
Katie sits Michelle down
against the house and limps over to Tommy.

KATIE
Oh God, Tommy.

KATIE (kneeling down)
It’s okay Tommy. We’re safe now. I killed him Tommy. It’s all over.

Tommy rolls over a little bit, rolling onto her BROKEN ARM. She cringes and moves it out of the way. Tommy notices her shoulder wound.

TOMMY
Katie, you’re-you’re hurt.

KATIE
It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it. Just focus on you, okay?

TOMMY
I-I called t-the p-police. I f-found the p-p-p-hone.

KATIE
That’s good, Tommy.

TOMMY
Are you o-okay?

KATIE
Yes I am, thanks to you.
You saved my life.

TOMMY
D-don’t mention i-it. I h-had to. I-I love you.

KATIE
I love you too, Tommy.

Tommy reaches up and wipes the blood from his mouth. He winces in pain.

TOMMY
K-katie?

KATIE
Yeah Tommy.

TOMMY
Will you t-tell my parents
I l-ove them?

KATIE
Hey. Don’t you dare talk like that. Don’t you dare.
You are going to make it. I won’t lose you too.
I won’t.

TOMMY
It c-can’t be h-helped.

KATIE
Yes it can. It can, because I am here and the
paramedics are on their way.
So you just hang in there.

TOMMY
Wh-what a weekend, huh?

KATIE
Yeah. But let’s not think about that right now. There’ll be time for that later.

TOMMY
I’m not too s-sure about that.

KATIE
Well I am, Tommy. Come on, Tommy. You’re stronger than this.

TOMMY (laughing slightly)
N-not right n-now.
(getting very serious)
Katie, I don’t t-think I’m g-gonna make it.

KATIE
Yes you are. You just have to
wait a couple of minutes.

TOMMY
I-it’s not gonna h-happen.

Katie (crying)
Yes it is. You’re gonna be fine.

TOMMY
Katie I-I l-ove y-y-ou.

KATIE
I love you too. That’s why you have to hang on.

Tommy shakes his head feebly.

TOMMY
Listen to me. Y-you are the b-best thing that ever h-happened to me. You have t-to go on with your life. D-do it for me.

KATIE
Tommy, stop!

TOMMY
C-can I have o-one last k-kiss?

KATIE
No, because you’re gonna make it and
I am going to kiss you a thousand times after you recover.

Tommy grasps her uninjured hand and looks STRAIGHT into her eyes.

TOMMY
Please.

KATIE (swallowing hard)
All right Tommy.

She slowly bends down and they share a passionate kiss.

TOMMY
Thank you.
(coughs)
R-remember what I s-said. Follow your d-dreams. For me.
(coughs again)
I’m sorry Katie.

He closes his eyes and his grip on Katie’s hand becomes LIMP.

KATIE (getting scared)
No. No Tommy, you open your eyes!

Nothing happens.

KATIE
Please Tommy!

She bends down and kisses him again.

KATIE (crying harder)
Please Tommy. Your lips are still warm. You are okay.
Please wake up!

Nothing.

KATIE
PLEASE! I can’t lose you. I love you. I love you Tommy, I love you I love you I love you! Wake up!
NO!!!!!

She begins to CRY HYSTERICALLY. She hugs Tommy as best as she can with her broken arm and rocks back and forth, SOBBING.

Katie just sits and holds Tommy and CRIES. The bodies are still lying where they were.

We can see Katie on the ground holding Tommy, but the stress is just too much for her. She falls back with Tommy’s body lying on her chest, unconscious.

KATIE’S POV

Everything is distorted. We can only see COLORS. There is movement around us, but we can’t tell what it is.........

FADE TO BLACK

Chapter 35

BLACKNESS

It engulfs the screen. We are in the MIDST of it.

FADE FROM BLACK

The black starts to leave, and as it disappears, KATIE’S face stares blankly at us. Her hair is combed and her face is no longer bloodied. She has no emotion on it. Her lips are shut tightly.

SNAP BACK--INT. OF CHURCH

SUBITTES READ--
“two weeks later”

The funeral for the teenagers killed that night is going on. The church is packed with people and crying and sniffling RULE the air.

A preacher is talking about the fate of the boys and girls and how they are with GOD now.

KATIE

She is sitting in the front with her mom. She looks blankly up at the front and at the PREACHER.

ZOOM

Her lips are tightly shut still. As the preacher starts talking about her friends more they part a little bit and a tear appears in her eye. She lets out a little sigh and the tear STREAMS down her cheek and drips off her face.

PAN BACK

Her mom, sitting beside her, sees Katie and puts her arm around her, comforting her. Katie embraces her with her free arm (the other is in a sling), tears now streaming down her cheeks.

KATIE (whispering)
It’s not fair.

--FADE TO--

THE RECEPTION AFTER. The funeral is done and people are milling in the lobby. Katie is with her mother.

A woman comes up and hugs Katie.

WOMAN
Oh Katie, I’m so sorry. It must have been horrible.

Katie nods.

WOMAN
No one should have to go through what you did. I’m sorry.

KATIE
Thank you.

The woman walks away. Katie turns to her mother.

DETECTIVE HOLZER (V.O.)
Katie?

Katie and her mother turn around to see the detective.

MOTHER
Hi, detective.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
Hello Ms. Thompson.
I was wondering if I could have a word with Katie.

MOHTER
Now? Can’t it wait until later?

KATIE
It’s okay mom. I’ll just be a second.

She puts her hand on her mother’s arm and nods. Her mother looks to the detective and then nods and walks away. Katie turns to the detective.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
I’m sorry to disturb you Katie, but I wanted to talk with you.

KATIE
It’s okay. What do you want? Did you find them?

DETECTIVE HOLZER
I’m sorry Katie, but the new search didn’t reveal anything else. There were no other bodies besides those of your friends. We searched the entire grounds.

KATIE
How is that possible?

DETECTIVE HOLZER
Katie, listen. I know you say that there were a lot of people there. But the guy confessed.
How do you explain that?

KATIE
I don’t know.

She thinks for a little bit.

KATIE (under her breath)
They paid him off.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
What was that?

KATIE
Nothing, I was just saying that maybe he was paid to say that he was guilty.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
Who?

KATIE
Rofana.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
I checked that out too. Rofana works with garden herbs and medicine. They had nothing to do with what happened.

KATIE
Are you saying that I’m making this up?

DETECTIVE HOLZER
Listen Katie. You’ve been through a traumatic experience. No one should have to go through that,
especially someone your age. Look, what I’m saying is that maybe your mind played tricks on you.

KATIE
You think I’m crazy.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
I didn’t say that. Come on Katie. Your friends were attacked by a man who escaped from prison.
You were the only survivor besides your friend Michelle, and she’s too traumatized to speak at all. That’s too much for anyone to take.

KATIE
I know what went on, Detective. Now if you’ll excuse me, I would like to go and have a moment of peace.

DETECTIVE HOLZER
Of course.

Katie gets up and walks away from the detective. As she walks away, the detective looks after her, a worried look on his face.

FADE INTO--

A Psychiatric ward in a hospital. There is a big MEETING room where all the crazies are. We can see that it is a safe place, but sterile and uncaring.

PAN DOWN

As we get CLOSER to the ground, a single patient comes into our view.

FLIP

Now, as we see the face, we can see the recognizable form of it--MICHELLE! She is sitting at a table, not engaged in the antics of the other patients, but just staring straight forward into SPACE. Her lips are shut and she DOESN’T MOVE. She is traumatized indeed.......

INT. BATHROOM--FUNERAL--KATIE

Katie comes in and shuts the door. She LEANS on the sink, her face pained. She closes her eyes.

KATIE
It’s not fair. GOD DAMN IT!!

She yells and hits her hand against the mirror above the sink. She runs her hand across her face, and then down to her stomach, where she WINCES.

Her face crinkles up. She feels along her side until she feels the pain again. It is on the RIGHT side of her stomach.

Puzzled, she lifts up her shirt to expose her STOMACH. She squints down, trying to see what the pain is cause from.

ZOOM--KATIE’S STOMACH

There is a small HOLE, microscopic, but definitely there. It is slightly RED and Katie touches it. It looks like a NEEDLE MARK...

ZOOM OUT

Katie looks at it, bewildered. Then she starts remembering...

FLASH!

Back to the night, back to when Gunman 1 explained it all to them.

GUNMAN 1
Just one shot.

FLASH--Katie slumps down, unconscious next to Tommy outside.

Distorted as it may be, we can see that she is somewhat conscious, but barely. The images that were once distorted are clearing up and we see certain things.

The first thing that we see is the distorted image of GUNMAN 1 crawling along to get to Katie, NOT YET DEAD.

FLASH TO PRESENT--Katie gasps and shakes her head. She is only now REMEMBERING...

GUNMAN 1 reaches Katie. She is moaning, still aware but unable to MOVE. Gunman 1 takes out a small SYRINGE from his pocket!!!!

He brings it up and pulls back Katie’s BLOOD RIDDEN shirt. He drives the needle DEEP into her.

ZOOM

Katie’s stomach with the syringe in it. Gunman 1’s hand pushes down the plunger, INJECTING Katie with the substance inside of it. He pulls the needle out, and there is left a scar--a little red mark.

SNAP BACK

Gunman 1 COLLAPSES ON THE GROUND, FINALLY DEAD. He expels his last breath and goes completely LIMP.

GUNMAN 1 (V.O.)
Just one shot...

FLASH! Katie rubs her side in the bathroom.

REMEMBERING, we see the syringe lying next to the gunman, CMPLETELY EMPTY, its contents INSIDE KATIE.

FASH TO PRESENT

GUNMAN 1 (V.O.)
Just ONE SHOT...

His voice rings hauntingly as the remembrance is completed. Katie is breathing HARD and sporadic. She looks down at the spot on her side.

KATIE
No--

She falls to the ground, OVERCOME with fear and HEARTACHE. Her eyes close.

ZOOM--Katie’s bare stomach. The hole is there...

ZOOM MORE--closer and closer. The syringe mark with a red hue around it. Just one shot...

SNAP TO BLACK

--ENDING CREDITS ROLL.

THE END
