Court-Ship (2) Sandy~~~~ “That was a nice shot wasn’t it?” (Garrett looks at her and laughs, brushes her hair out of her eyes) Garrett “Yeah, but not as nice as that punch.” (They both laugh as they walk off the court together) Scene 13~~~~ The back of a Limo (Garrett and Sandy are seated in the back of the Limo laughing, they are holding hands) Garrett “Sandy you are amazing, and I’m not just talking about out on the court, or in the bedroom, i’m talking about you, god you are so damn amazing.” Sandy~~~~ “Oh Garrett, you’re making my blush.” Garrett “Well good, i find you incredibly sexy when you blush.” (They slowly start to kiss, Garrett starts kissing her neck as Sandy closes her eyes.”) Sandy~~~~ “So, when are we gonna get married? We’ve been seeing each other since i was a sophomore at Duke.” (This catches Garrett off guard, he stops kissing Sandy’s neck and looks down at the ground) Garrett “Uhhhhhh well gee Sandy, I haven’t really thought about it, I mean isn’t marriage a big step, shouldn’t we think about it some more before we rush into it?” Sandy~~~~ “But Garrett, I have thought about it, I’ve been thinking about it for the past 3 years, I love you and want to be with you and only you. Don’t you feel the same way towards me?” (Garrett puts his arms around her and hugs her tight, one hand behind her head, his head resting on her shoulder) Garrett “Yes Sweetie, I love you, and I only want to be with you.” Sandy~~~~ “Ok, I guess I’m just silly, we can wait as long as you want to, to decide when we should get married.” (Garrett kisses Sandy on the forehead, and Sandy kisses him) Scene 14~~~~ Garrett and Sandy’s apartment (Sandy and Garrett are walking to the elevators, they get on and a fan of Sandy’s is in it) Fan~~~~”Oh my god, you’re Sandy Sears arent you????????” Sandy~~~~ “Yes” Fan~~~~ “Oh my god, Miss. Sears I’m your biggest fan, can I please have your autograph?????” Sandy~~~~ “Sure, (Fan hands her a blue sharpie) What do you want me to sign?” Fan~~~~ “Oh....Uhhh..I dont have any paper on me right now, just sign my hand.” (Garrett turns and giggles as Sandy signs the man’s hand) Sandy~~~~ “There ya go.” Fan~~~~ “Thanks, Thanks a lot Miss. Sears, I’ll never wash this hand again.” (The elevator stops and the fan gets off, Garrett gets behind Sandy and wraps his arms around her, kissing the back of her neck) Garrett “ Miss. Sears, I’m your biggest fan, will you please let me make love to you tonight?” Sandy~~~~ “Mmmmmm.....Garrett I love you.” (They kiss) Garrett~~~ “Baby I love you too” (As the elevator doors open, Garrett picks Sandy up and carries her to their door while still kissing, he unlocks the door and rushes inside. He lays her on the bed, as she grabs a hold of his shirt coller and pulls him on top of her. The next thing we see is them laying in bed naked, but with the blanket pulled over them. Sandy is laying on Garrett’s chest and Garrett is gently running his hand up and down her back.) Garrett~~~~ “ You know this is the highlight of my day, being with you.” Sandy~~~~ “Do u really love me Garrett?” Garrett~~~~ “Yes.......why would you even ask a question like that?” Sandy~~~~ “I dot know, I just wish you would marry me.” Garrett~~~~ “Baby do we have to talk about this now, its late and I have to work tomorrow and you have an early practice.” (Sandy rolls over and away from Garrett, Garrett gets a little upset and gets out of bed, putting his clothes back on) Sandy~~~~ “What are you doing?” Garrett “What does it look like I’m doing? I’m leaving.” Sandy “Why? What’s wrong with you?” Garrett “Well obviously you dont want to talk to me or have anything else to do with me until I ask you to marry me, so I’m leaving.” Sandy~~~~ “Dont leave, Garrett I’m sorry, I’m an idiot.” (Garrett sits down on the bed with his unzipped pants on, he puts his face in his hands and sighs.) Garrett~~~~ “No baby, you’re not the idiot, I am. I should have asked you to marry me 3 years ago.” (Garrett turns around to face Sandy, and he takes her hand) Garrett ~~~~“Sandy Sears, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” (Sandy starts to cry) Sandy~~~~ “Yes, yes yes yes!!!!!” (They embrace) Scene 15~~~~ Liberty practice Gym The Liberty Practice gym, the team is running sprints as Garrett enters and takes a seat in the stands, where there are reporters seated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (One reporter looks over at Garrett, he is one of Garrett’s old friends) Terry~~~~ “Hey Garrett, long time no see. What have you been into lately?” Garrett~~~~ “Terry, Terry Daniels, lord it must have been at least 3 years since we seen each other. Tell me, are you still writing articles for Sports Today Magazine?” Terry~~~~ “No, I was fired from there about 3 months ago, I write for Full Court magazine now.” Garrett~~~~ “Cool, that’s good man.” Terry~~~~ “No, not very, my job is in jeopardy. If I dont come up with a kick ass article by Wednesday, I’m fired.” Garrett~~~~ “ Well who better to write one on then Sandy Sears, she’s taking the world of basketball by storm. Did you catch her game last night?” Terry~~~~ “Yeah, she was awesome, but everyone is doing a story on her, I need something different.” Terry~~~~ “Say Gary, are you still involved with that Sears chick?” Garrett~~~~ “Yeah, we just got engaged.” Terry~~~~ “Oh well good for you. Are you still representing her?” Garrett~~~~ “Yes I am, why?” Terry~~~~ “No reason, just curious.” Garrett~~~~ “ Ok well I gotta jet, practice is over and me and Sandy are gonna go to dinner and celebrate.” Terry~~~~ “Ok Gary, catch ya later......Hey wait a sec, before you go, let me give you my number so you can call me sometime. We can hang out like old times. Garrett~~~~ “Ok Terry, thanks.” Sandy~~~~ “Hi Hon, how was your morning?” Garrett~~~~ “Good, real good, I signed a couple new clients today.” Sandy~~~~ “Thats good, I had a pretty good workout.” Garrett~~~~ “Yeah you can tell. Very attractive.” Sandy~~~~ “ Well let me jump in the shower real quick and I’ll meet you out in the car.” Garrett~~~~ “Ok, I’ll be waiting out front.” Scene 16~~~~ Sandy and Garrett’s apartment Garrett~~~~ “Did you sleep well?” Sandy~~~~ (while brushing her teeth) “Not really, kept thinking about tomorrow’s game.” Garrett~~~~ “Oh yeah, well why dont you come in here and join me, and you can tell me all about it.” Scene 17~~~~ The apartment living room, Sandy and Garrett are dressed now and laying on the couch together watching TV when they hear a knock at the door Garrett~~~~ “I’ll get it, it’s probably another ballistic fan wanting you to sign his dick or something.” Tracy~~~~ “You fucking slim ball.... piece of roach shit.... god damn asshole.” Garrett~~~~ “What the fuck is wrong with you?” Tracy~~~ “How could you???? My sister is in love with you, how could you play with her feelings like this? Why did you have to pretend Garrett? Why?” Garrett~~~~ “Pretend??? What the fuck are you talking about?” Tracy~~~~ (Pointing to the magazine laying in the floor) Turn to page 87 you fucking bastard.” Sandy~~~~ “What a Man Will do to Save his Job, by Terry Daniels.” Garrett~~~~ “Sandy Sears has become a household name, the rookie for the WNBA’s New York Liberty has become known to many as the female Jordan. Most may even know her boyfriend, and agent, Garrett Mcgrady. Mcgrady became an agent 11 years ago, and was a very successful one as well. He had all the big name athletes back then, but years down the road something happened, something changed. Mcgrady started losing all his top name talent, and was no longer the big man in sports management. Thats when he ran into Sandy Sears. Sears was a Sophomore at Duke at the time, and was leading the nation in scoring in both women’s and men’s basketball. Everyone could see she was a star, that one day she’d be the female equivalent to “Air” Jordan, and Mcgrady knew this better than anyone. So, he made it a point to talk to Miss. Sears, and since he knew it would be illegal for them to talk about her pro career at that time, he came up with a different plan. To be certain he could sign her once she graduated college, he made her fall in love with him. Because who can resist love, right? Love makes us blind, it weakens us, we are helpless with it. And he knew if she fell in love with him, she’d definitely sign with him, and his job would be saved. And that’s exactly what happened. Now Sears is a big time celebrity and Mcgrady a big time Agent. He now has all the money players in the sports world, and its all thanks to a little lady by the name of Sandy.” Tracy~~~~ “Come on Sandy get your things, you can stay at my place.” Sandy~~~~ “Garrett, is this story true? Please tell me it’s not.” Garrett~~~~ “Look Sandy, it might have started out this way, but you dont understand, I really did fall in love with you, honest. I fell in love with you.” Sandy~~~~ “I dont know what to say, how could you do this to me Garrett? How?” Garrett~~~~ “You dont understand, I had to save my job, I needed a top athlete, i needed the next Jordan, and it was you. But Sandy, I fell in love with you for real, the first time I met you and looked into your beautiful blue eyes (is touching Sandy’s face while saying this, Sandy’s eyes are closed and tears running down her face.) I knew I loved you.” Sandy~~~~ (Removes Garrett’s hand from her face, as Garrett walks across the room by the window. His head is down and he’s trying to explain everything to Sandy. Sandy then picks up her basketball which is laying on the floor and throws it hard towards Garrett’s head, he dodges it, as it breaks the window. We now see the basket falling towards the road outside, and hits a taxi driving by.) Garrett~~~~ “What the fuck is wrong with you???? Sandy this story isnt 100% true.” Sandy~~~~ “But you are admitting that some of it is true. You said it yourself a minute ago that your plan at first was to get me to fall in love with you so I’d sign with you when I went pro.” Garrett~~~~ “Yes, but you dont understand, I really did fall in love with you.” Tracy~~~~ “That’s bullshit Gary.” Garrett~~~~ “Why dont you stay the hell out of this Tracy, this has nothing to do with you.” Tracy~~~~ “Yes it does Gary, Sandy is my sister, she’s the reason i moved up here, and I’ll be damned if I’m just gonna sit around and watch you hurt her. Come on Sandy, we’ll come back later and get your things.” Scene 18~~~~ The next night Garrett is sitting on the couch watching SportsCenter. They are showing highlights from the playoff game Sandy just played. Dan Patrick~~~~ “Well folks it looks like Sandy Sears turned in another outstanding performance in tonight’s game. It was the first game in the first round of this years WNBA playoffs, as the New York Liberty were matched up against the Washington Mystics. NY has the best record in the league and homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Dan Patrick~~~~ “Sandy Sears poured in a game high 41 points tonight against the Mystics as NY coasted to the easy 101-67 victory. Sears also recorded her 22nd double double this season, with 12 assists.” Stuart Scott~~~~ “If you look behind the NY bench you’ll notice Sears’s boyfriend and agent, Garrett Mcgrady was not in attendance tonight.” Dan Patrick~~~~ (Laughs) What a man will do to save his job (shakes his head back and forth while saying this) Garrett~~~~ “Fuck you Dan Patrick.” Garrett~~~~ (in a shocked voice whispers) Terry??? You fuckin’ son of a bitch you. What a man will do to save his job.” Garrett starts to flashback to the night after he met Sandy, and called Terry, leaving a message on his answering machine. Garrett~~~~ “ Garrett then picks up the phone to call Terry, Terry answers Terry~~~~ “Hello” Garrett~~~~ “What the fuck is wrong with you man? I thought we were friends? Why did you write that god damn story?” Terry~~~~ “Easy there pal, we are friends. I was just doing what you did. I had to save my job.” Garrett~~~~ “Oh yeah, we’ll let’s see if you still have a job once I sue your god damn ass for printing that shit.” Terry~~~~ “Hahahahaha (Laughs hysterically) It’s all legal, I gave the magazine’s editor the answering machine tape with your confession on it, you cant fuckin sue me Gary.” Garrett~~~~ “Ok, ok Gary think, how can we get Sandy to realize you was in love with her the whole time you two dated.” Scene 19~~~~The weeks roll on as we see the scenes changing, one second we see Garrett alone in his apartment miserable, the next we see Sandy at her sister’s house depressed. We see Garrett sitting on the couch watching highlights from all of Sandy’s playoff games, and we see Sandy in the locker room alone after a game crying.> Scene 20~~~~It’s the championship game at Madison Square Garden, game 3 of the WNBA finals, and the LA Sparks and New York Liberty are tied 1 game apiece. The winner of this game will be the champs. We see Sandy warming up, then Garrett enters the arena and takes his seat behind the bench. Sandy’s coach is there and see’s Garrett.> Coach~~~~ “Garrett? Lord boy what are you doing here?” (hugs Garrett) Garrett~~~~ “I came to watch Sandy kick LA’s ass.” Coach~~~~ “Are you two talking?” Garrett~~~~ “No, not yet. I’m trying to find a way to convince her that even though at first my plan was to date her to save my job, when i met her i really did fall in love with her.” Coach~~~~ (Looks at Garrett with sadness in her eyes) Well, if you two are truly meant to be together, then you will be.” Garrett~~~~ “Yeah I know. Good luck tonight Delta.” Coach~~~~ “Same to you lover boy.” head.> Coach~~~~ “Ok listen up ladies, we have a chance to bring home a championship here tonight, the first championship for the Liberty, and by god we’re gonna do it. Sears, I know your style is fancy, and it’s gotten us this far, but to win we need to do so with basic basketball. No wild passes, stick to the basics. Play more like John Stockton than Pistol Pete.” Sandy~~~~ “Ok coach, I got it. Dont worry, I’ll be basic.” Coach~~~~ “Ok girls, put your hands in here and lets go kick some ass.” game continues, we see flashes of LA and NY scoring, the announcers are commenting on the game as all this happens, and everytime a time-out is called and Sandy is at the bench, she looks up at Garrett. At half-time the game is tied 54-54 and when it begins again LA goes on a 10-0 run.> Announcer #1~~~~ It looks like NY is in some big trouble. They just cant seem to stop Lisa Leslie who has 21 points and 13 rebounds so far in this game.” Announcer #2~~~~ “Sandy Sears is gonna have to step up big time for her team, she hasn’t played her style of basketball at all tonight. She is more basic, and it looks as if it is hurting the Liberty.” Garrett whispers to himself Garrett~~~~ “What the hell is wrong with you Sandy, you are playing their style of basketball, why arent you playing your style?” Announcer #1~~~~ “With 1:22 left in the game, the Liberty are down by 5. Sandy Sears is the leading scorer on the Liberty team with 18 points, she also has 8 assists.” Announcer #2~~~~ “This is Sears ball game, she is gonna be the decisive matter in who wins tonight. Give the ball to Sears, cause she can lead this Liberty team to victory and their first championship.” completes the 4 point play, and brings NY to within 1 with under 20 seconds left. NY calls a time out.> Coach~~~~ (Sweating and shaking, speaks with a nervous voice) Ok, ok we are down by 1 with 18 seconds left. It’s LA ball, we need to foul because they are in the bonus. If they hit both shots call a time-out, if they miss or make 1 then look to tie.” Garrett~~~ “Screw the 2 to tie it, make the announcers scream “Sears for 3!” Announcer #1~~~~ “You have to know that Delta Myers is wanting this NY team to foul, LA is in the bonus.” Announcer #2~~~~ “If you think back to the Liberty’s last game of the season against the Sparks, you will remember that it was similar to tonight. That game ended with Sears hitting a clutch 3 to win the game, let’s see if she still has some magic left in her.” and see’s that there is 12 seconds left. She dribbles back and forth through her legs and behind her back, when the clock reaches 4 seconds she makes her move. She crosses over on Tasha McNeely, the girl guarding her, and takes a step back, pulls up for a 3, and it hits nothing but net. We see this all happening in slow motion, as the NY players rush over to Sandy and pick her up. They place her on their shoulders as she is reached the Championship trophy. Sandy holds it up high for everyone to see, as she spot Garrett standing a few feet away with a smile on his face, crying. She jumps down off the players shoulders and gives the trophy to a teammate. She then runs to Garrett and hugs him. He is crying and so is she.> Garrett~~~~ “Sandy I swear to god from the moment i saw you i fell in love with you. But I dont know how to prove it to you.” Sandy~~~~ “I know you were in love with me Garrett, because whenever we hugged I could feel it, whenever you told me you loved me I could hear it, and whenever we made love and I looked into your eyes I could see it.”
