Ucw: The Story Of The Man, Part Three (9) She thought to herself “how did things come to this” her shirt dripped in blood, the blood of a person of which she loved more than her own life and the cause was her own dark secret. That damn secret that only one person can take away. The secret that had destroyed most of what she had and most of the people that she knew. She wasn’t entirely sure if she was dead herself. Was this all her fault? Tony could sense this question and walked over “look baby, this aint your fault, it’s Jason’s and it’s all over now, is she…” she looked at him and tried to speak, nothing came out “I think I know what you were gonna say, she aint mine aint she?” Amy shook her head innocently then looked down at the corpse of dead Rebecca. “Don’t think of it that way, she’s mine, biologically or not, it doesn’t matter, she’s gone now, to maybe a better place, maybe…” Amy looked up at him and slowly pointed up to the air “yeah, she’s up there Amy, she’s up there, with all the toys she wants, being able to see her mum and dad whenever she wants, finally happy” everything started to calm down a little until the overdue Ben sprinted into the situation. He caught his breath then looked over at Amy, realizing the death that had occurred. He spat the blood that circled in his mouth out then looked again in disbelief. He looked up at Tony and could see him half crying in the background. “Tony mate, this may not be the best time but I just saw Jason in the woods, talking to Richard” Tony had just figured the whole thing out when Richard’s name popped up, suddenly the whole plan came into gear, it became obvious now. “I got it, the reason why Jason knew everything about us, even where we were was because Richard was there, I thought it wasn’t for real, but I think he loves Amy, but if Richard was helping Jason and he wanted Amy, why was he helping him to kill her?” Ben had figured that one out too, the whole plan became easily recognisable now “Richard was totally love mesmerized, it was easy for Jason to play along with our minds, maybe he mucked around Richard so he could be absolutely sure his plan would work” Tony looked down at Amy, kneeled down beside her and gently pressed his lips against hers. It was a gentle kiss. He looked at the corpse and swore to himself for vengeance. “Right Ben, stay here look after Rachael, Matt, come with me, and grab my shotgun” “What? What did you just say!” “Tony came in, I don’t know how he got here, it’s impossible” “so Amy won’t be mine anyway” “I’m too injured to carry on now, but this aint over” the two were making the silent woods into the Jerry Springer show. The carefully predicted plan had fallen into nothing thanks to the common enemy, love. All that they had been so evil for had now turned bitter. Just as the two lifted fists at each other ready for a fight both men’s concentration fell to a rustling sound in the distance “what the hell is that?” they both asked. The moonlight glared through the trees and woodland exposing the two murderers. Mosh turned around to Jason and tugged his scarred shirt like a small, pathetic child who had seemed to lost everything that he didn’t have anyway. “Jason, who is it? Is it the cops?” The angers showed in Jason’s face as he shrugged away the bulky arm of his sidekick. “No, it aint, it’s…” a smile began to grow as he realised who his chaser was “It’s Mr Sayers”. The two tag teams stood about 5 metres away from each other, the hate dripped off their bodies like blood. This was going to the final stand of a week born from hell, just the place where Jason was born himself, from the fiery pits of what spawned such an insane specimen. Both Jason and Man had been physically and mentally challenged to their limits and somehow managed to stay firm on their feet. For that they respected each other but that was as far as it went. Man hated Jason for what he had done to his family and Jason hated Man because he had destroyed all he had planned for. Jason had underestimated the power of love before and he still did for he had never experienced it. As for the leg of Jason, it seemed to have healed up with miraculous time, or he didn’t feel pain. The silence was too unbearable for Matt who didn’t really understand why he was there in the first place, “how did I get involved in this?” However he did not argue, Tony had given him a life, if this would be the end of it then his debt would be finally paid. “So, how are we going to resolve this Mr Sayers?” Jason said simply to break the silence. Man looked deep into him, in deep hatred for killing his child “first of all, I’m going to beat the living shit out of you, then I’m going to kill you” Jason just laughed with a sardonic style “that’s right isn’t it Mr Sayers, you’re a murderer, just like me, you killed many people in England if I remember right” although Jason had expected a change in emotion for The Man, it did not arise as yet again he underestimated the power of Tony. “So, gave me enough practice for you”. The shotgun fell from the tight arm that clenched it. It clinked to the floor taking the murderers attention away from the charging body that flew toward him. The only style of fighting that Man knew was wrestling and that was what he was going to use, as he dived in a spear onto Jason pummelling him with right hands once he hit the floor. Mosh had seen enough and got in with the action by trying to throw off the anger infused Tony. Marsander responded to this by running and charging down the unfair advantage. A sudden spouse of energy filled Jason as he threw off his attacker into a tree almost knocking him out. Mosh had flipped over the young Marsander and started to take control of the fight. The two others jumped onto there feet and locked in a grapple. It seemed like David and goliath by the physical size of the two. Jason towered over Man by about 2 feet and obviously was a lot heavier than him too. Although the difference was clear to the naked eye, Jason was finding it hard to overpower the smaller but more aggressive nemesis. In fact it seemed as if Man was overpowering him. He managed to land in a body slam and a fast knee into the face while Mosh continued his assault of Marsander. Man walked over to Mosh and pulled him off of his student, then threw him into a tree knocking him out completely. Jason had got up and was yet again ready to fight. Man charged in with all his remaining strength, if there was any, and held Jason up onto another tree by his throat. Marsander walked over and grabbed the shotgun that was left behind. He handed it over to Man’s free hand. “You see, I said I was going to beat you up, and now I’m going to kill you” Jason just gulped past the tight grip around his throat. The aim focused around his head, just circling around before the trigger was squeezed slowly. Then in one glimpse, the shot fired and exploded Jason’s skull everywhere. The sight was too horrific for Matt’s eyes but Tony stood tall as the body of his greatest fear fell to the ground. He thought to himself “it’s finally over” he looked around at his brother who had just gained consciousness again. He looked over at the relieved Tony and started to speak “look if you want to kill me go ahead, the better man won, just finish me” Matt looked quickly at both men, feeling a little left out but glad that he was. Tony walked over to his brother who kept his head as close to the floor as possible. “Look, if you truly love my wife, go and find someone else before she cries at your funeral, got it?” he looked up, feeling an unknown amount of guilt come over him. Then without remorse he ran away, out of distance of sight and out of distance of Man’s life. “Let’s go Matt”. They both looked at the shattered pieces of skull that laid almost everywhere in the vicinity of the fight scene. The nightmare and the horror had ended, for now anyway. Amy was right. There was only one person who could end her dark secret and he did it. Tony had ended life to one and given life to another, his wife. “There not back yet?” enquired the battered Rachael. She had cleaned herself up thanks to her top that was ripped and scared from her encounter. She knew the risks of becoming The Man’s adoptive daughter and she accepted the risks. Even thought she never thought that it would come to something this bad. She loved her new mother and father, just one year after being with them they had done more parental things than her biological parents had done for the 7 years that they had her for before abandoning her. Her new father Tony had helped her in many ways as a father, even played a major part when Rachael wanted to lose her virginity. The reason she loved Tony so much was that he was not just a father, he was a friend and that was what she needed. Her new mother Amy had helped her get through her education, Amy had been her home tutor but not just for education but also for her personal life, sexually and mentally. She even helped her dye Rachael’s hair to a more blonde colour. To see maybe one of the nicest couples in the world go through this was almost heartbreaking. Also her baby sister of whom she loved through many sleepless nights was dead. Never to breath, talk, walk, cry or love again. She almost had survivors guilt, why was she alive? She would gladly give her life in order to keep Rebecca alive but like most of her life, she had no chance to do it. She had enough of crying now; she had seen the water of life fall down her constantly for the last week. Everything had gone wrong and she was the only one fine. Rebecca was dead, Amy had lost her voice and god knows what happened to her father. Ben looked around to her still astonished at the past events that had occurred. He knew that Tony was his high school friend but he was starting to think whether he wanted to stay as a part of this family or not. Although he loved Rachael… “No, I can’t see him, it’s been an hour now”. Amy looked at the trail of footsteps that her husband had made in the mud, still holding her dead child tightly in her hands, she cried again. She had lost all hope, maybe Jason had killed him. She couldn’t bear to think that. A long line of smoke covered the lawn of the Sayers Estate that blocked all sight beyond it. Just then the smoked seemed to clear slightly as two men stood out. One with a shotgun that seeped with smoke itself, it had been freshly used. The man with the shotgun held it high in the hair and shouted, “we got him, it’s over”. Amy smiled her biggest smile to date. Although terrible events had happened she couldn’t help feeling that it could have been worse. The two walked forward and were bloody and bruised. Amy carefully laid down her daughter still thinking that she was still alive and ran over to her victorious husband planting a kiss on his gentle lips. Then she stroked his goatee that was overgrown and wiry but still was the switch to turn him on. “It’s over baby, I said nothing would happen to you” she just grew a bigger smile along with her glazed wide-open eyes that shook themselves. The blood in her neck was covered by a strip of her own clothing, it started to overflow a little “time to get you to the hospital okay?” she just nodded. As the group started to walk down the entrance of the fallen Sayers estate. Amy still carrying her child in her arms. Tony who led the group forward could see something in the distance, at the gates to his house. It was a van, black and the moonlight shimmered off of it into the group’s eyes. No way this was the cops, he had seen that van before. “You girls, stay here, Ben, Matt lets check this out” Rachael pulled her mother in the bushes to keep her away from sight. The worst thing that Amy could see right now was another fight. The three men walked forward strongly. Just as they were 20 metres from the van that seemed bigger by every metre they got closer to it, a gang of men in black suits stepped out. Matt had recognised who it was and started to back down from it. “What’s wrong matt, anyone you know?” Matt just nodded his head in fear. The gang had seemed to grow to about 15 men all strong and beefed up. One other man walked out and Tony figured out who they were “the mafia, shit”. He looked around at the other two who seemed to be a little scared. They had just been through hell and they didn’t want any more. Tony just wanted to reassure the two, as he didn’t want a fight either. “Look, lets just walk past, if they start, finish it” the two fixed themselves up ready for a possible fight. Man walked forward trying to act normally in front of the gun-toting criminals. “Anything I can help you with gentlemen?” The leader of the group had the cliché style black hair and a large cigar glued to his mouth. He spat out the cigar and walked in front of the whole group. “Yes, yes you can, y’see some of my men got hurt, killed actually and you stole my property, that’s right Matt’s mine” Matt burst forwards with full strength and anger getting right in the leaders face “I aint anyone’s property, you got that!” Tony pulled his angry student back with one big hand. Although Matt was physically bigger than his tutor he was still in someway inferior. “Look, what do you want from us? Matt aint never coming back to you guys so you can follow my fingers” he pointed down the road then turned it the V sign when they looked back. “You making a fool’o’me?” Tony just laughed to himself; it was like dealing with children. “Yes, yes I am, so fuck off already before I call the authorities”. The mafia gang gave an evil grin and then Tony realised that something was wrong. Matt was still fuming and as for Ben he didn’t know what the hell he was doing there. “I wouldn’t do that or little Kym here gets a little trip to deaths Ville” two men opened up the back of the car and pulled out the gagged Kym. It was the first time Tony had saw her; she had brunette hair, looked a little like Amy in a way but had darker skin. He turned to Matt and cracked a little joke “is that your girl? Damn why didn’t you show me her earlier?” Matt didn’t take a liking to the joke, which is understandable. He burst out again shouting violently “don’t you hurt her, you’re in for it!” Tony pulled him back and spoke to the monster quietly away from the rest of the mafia “listen, let me handle this, as for your last lesson” Matt grew out of this student theme and pushed away Tony. To his amazement his ex tutor just smiled and replied “that’s what I wanted you to do, you passed, you sort this shit out” the leader became annoyed and showed it in the typical Italian way. Although it was fairly obvious that he was American. “Well, how are we going to sort this out?” said the leader trying hard to keep his Italian accent intact. Matt looked at him and replied “how about you let her go and I won’t leave you in a puddle of your own piss” the whole gang started to laugh. “I’d like to see that, come on then you dipshit” the two groups circled each other. It was 15 on 3. 5 on 1. Then like the beat of a song the two group collided. Tony pushed one onto the floor, punched one in the face and stole his chain that hung loosely around his neck. He then threw it over to Matt who let it wrap around his fists and started a punching combo on his five opposers. Ben managed to grab on of the mafia boys and threw him into the crowd knocking many people over, including The Man. He shrugged off the bodies that hit the floor and landed a very dirty low blow on one of the fighters. Crushing his private areas to oblivion. 5 had been beaten already. Matt made a run for Kym. As he ran to the back of the van he speared a guard into the open door almost snapping him in half. Man had beaten 3 already, Ben had beaten the same and Matt had whipped 6. Ben ran to defend the other girls and Matt was busy untying his love. Only 3 were left and they were all Man’s but to his disappointment they ran away screaming. “Oh, dammit I was starting to have a little fun” he looked over to Matt but only saw the couple hugging each other. Then they started to kiss each other violently which was definitely a sight not wanted by Tony. “I need to get seriously wasted dudes…” Date: July 16th 1998 Location: New Jersey hospital “You’ve got to stop coming here Tony” laughed one of the nurses who had seen to all of his troubles since he moved to New Jersey. “Yeah, I should get a season ticket or something… can I see Amy?” she just nodded to him. He got up out of the chair feeling the stitches in his head and arm. He was in extreme pain but at least him and Amy got through it, even if she couldn’t talk for god knows how long. He started to walk down the corridor to the ward where Amy was being kept. He stuck on his dark blue bandana, tightened his biker gloves and stroked his beard, just like his father does. “Hey Tony, come here you little fuck!” he turned around and looked to see who it was. “Heya matt, wassup?” he looked down then back up to him. “Nothing really, just wanna say thanks for your help back there, without you and Ben I might of lost to them fuckers” “it’s nothing” he said with a happy stride “how’s your little precious?” Matt just looked in the door and leant against the frame of it. The lights of the hospital were extremely bright and the contrast was extremely clear, as the darkness of that eventful night would haunt them forever. “Still not awake but she’s fine, always been a heavy sleeper” the two laughed a jolly laugh before Tony carried on his long walk. He hadn’t seen the object of his affection since yesterday before her operation. The doctors said to him that they wouldn’t know anything more about her condition until she went through the 3-hour operation. Rachael had left the two for a little while; she had gone away with Ben and his fiancée Angelina. At least she was in safe hands. That night, the night that he would never forget had not only left mental scars but physical as well. The face of Jason Linke seemed to sleep inside Tony’s mind like some poisonous mist. The flash of the explosion flickered through his memory, the silence after the shot. The pieces of shattered cranium that fell like rain was an emotional dent in him. However Amy was safe, he had saved her. But he didn’t save… he didn’t save his child. When Amy came back into the hospital last night it took 10 people to pry the dead baby from her arms even when they had been slashed. He felt as if he got the raw deal of the experience, he didn’t get hurt too much and his life wasn’t threatened. Then he thought to himself. Amy was his life. The corridor was long and clear, full of passing pleasant nurses and chatting police officers. The police officers reminded Tony that he had to clear his name about Jason’s murder or he would end up in jail. Just a little alibi would get him out but the press would be a bitch for the next couple of days. Oh well, things could have been worse in Tony’s eyes and he was right. He was forced to deal with someone else’s dark secret and it almost killed him. The door was just ahead. The door read “Amy Sarah Linke”. The name didn’t matter; he remembered when Jason said that Amy’s real name was Sarah. He fell in love with the woman not the name and Jason seemed to be surprised by that. He opened up the door slowly, peering through the opening gap. His wife was asleep, dressed in complete white and all the blood that stained her once silky skin had been thoroughly cleansed leaving yet again her silky skin intact. He walked in slowly and quietly trying his hardest to let the sleeping beauty have her slumber. He sat down in the chair that laid at a straight angle away from the bed. She looked like an angel, so silent, so pure. He looked like the devil, no smile, looked like a guy that you would be afraid to talk to. From this sight they looked like a mismatch but nothing could be further from the truth. They were the yin and the yang. Bread and butter. Lips to lips. Sun and the plant. Tony and Amy. Her body laid still and motionless, she made Tony feel worried to an extent. Her position was the same as the time when he thought she was dead and he didn’t like it. “You awake baby?” he whispered to her. Her eyes flickered open slightly then closed again. The light from the morning blinded her. Tony acknowledged this and walked over to the blinds. He closed them then walked back over to the now awake Amy, then laid beside her. She rested her head on his shoulder and slowly drifted back off to sleep while clinging onto him with both arms. He stroked her hair gently and looked up at the ceiling. Feeling lucky again. He felt good again. “This is how things should be,” he thought to himself filled with happiness “yeah, this is how it should be, just me and MY Amy” Date: 29th July 1998 Location: Shady Surrey, England The card was full of pretty colours and glitter. In big bold it displayed “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SEXY BOY” the card was as big as his own body but nether less he opened it. It read: “Dear Tony, although it has been a hard couple of weeks for us I still lurve you! So get off your fat ass and buy a drink, love from your sexy little minx, Amy” He looked over the card almost not understanding what it said. There was Amy wearing the new white designer dress. It seemed a little weird but Tony had to admit that she looked damn good in it. She shrugged her shoulders and then gave a fine twirl. “Oh yeah, that’s awesome baby” she just smiled back at him. That’s when he realised how bad Amy’s throat was, it had one huge cut about 10 cm long which went over her voice box. The operation had saved her life but not her voice; the doctors said that it would heal naturally over the weeks, months or even years that it would take. They decided to rent a place back in their own hometown to find their roots and see a couple of friends. UCW had granted Man extra time off especially after the tragedy of his daughter’s death. Amy had seemed to take it okay but inside it was killing her. They had decided to go to an old diner that they went to way back. The diner they used to go to when Tony got back from his fitness-instructing job. Tony grabbed his coat and keys; Amy grabbed her handbag and eyebrow bar. She had her eyebrow pierced since she can’t remember and she never went out without wearing her bar. Many people didn’t like it, Tony thought it made her look better if possible so she decided to keep on wearing it. They walked down the street that seemed fairly clear and deserted. The obvious places could be picked out easily, it seemed like a ghost town of memory. They saw the diner, it hadn’t changed. In red letters it said “Camberley Diner” clearly on the front of the diner that sat on the corner of the road. The two walked in to the destination. There were not many people there maybe just 2 or 3 families. The two walked up and sat on the chairs near the counter. The barman turned around to take their order “heya, what’ll it be?” Amy looked over to Tony who just burst into laughter. The barman looked at the two puzzled, like he knew the two. Tony looked back up at Amy and whispered in her ear “that’s Will!!” her eyes widened as she finally realised who it was. Will hadn’t realised who they were yet but whisked up a couple of cokes anyway. “Excuse me sir, can I ask your name?” Will asked. He seemed less muscly since he got his ass kicked and also seemed a lot more polite. “My name is… Tony and this is your ex Amy, remember us?” Will laughed as he realised who they were, the people who set him right. “Oh right cool, it’s nice meeting you guys again, so how’s life been treating ya?” Tony just couldn’t get over the change of Will, Amy was just embarrassed. “Good, I’m a wrestler now, The Man for UCW” Will’s eyes opened in complete amazement. “You’re The Man, oh my god I’m in a fan club of yours”. “Well it was good catching up with that dipshit again wasn’t it” Tony said sarcastically. Amy’s face now was completely red like a cherry. Tony looked over the road, he could hear something. It was like a ruckus going on somewhere. He took his loved one’s hand and led her over the road. Amy did not realise what was going on. They climbed over a fence that lead to some kind of underground door. Tony had remembered this from years ago. He opened the door, which revealed a crowd of men jumping up and down in excitement. A man looked up at them and started to walk over. He looked rough, his beard was long and his clothes were stained in oil. “Your, oh my god, your… you’re The Man!!!” Tony just smiled at the old man who obviously was shocked out of his brain of his arrival. “I’ve come to wrestle back to my roots, got a place handy?” the old man seemed to be filled with life again and managed a nod, he seemed like a young boy who had just got his Christmas presents. Tony stepped through the crowd that slit apart in silence for the superstar. He looked around at the men and said, “Let’s do some wrestling shall we?!” the crowd up roared in excitement. It was good to get back to the roots again. Part Three: Drunken Mistake There she was, laying on the concrete, dead. The alcohol stench streamed from her mouth and the rain poured heavily as the newly formed crowd looked over the crying man. Why did this only happen to him? Why did all this shit have to happen, why is it that all the time that he remained on this god forsaken earth, he had to be punished for who he was. Date: November 13th 1999 Location: Sayers Estate
