Ucw: The Story Of The Man, Part Three (8)
He was becoming eager now, the night was almost over, he almost had her. He had to get there, time was almost up, it was not just their lives on the line. No sound left her mouth, the end was almost near, her death was near. Just the one turn remained; the night unsettled him, something was wrong. He just stared, obsessed to have this life long feud to end, it was almost over. Her eyes barely kept her alive, the blood seeped from her lip, was it the end? I’m too young for this. 8:16 PM, 14 minutes until detonation The whole house was quiet except the ticking of the bomb. It echoed around the whole house not missing one corner, crack or crevice. The constant ticking, tick, tock, tick, tock, tick… it just carried on. The gunk in her eye fell out as once as it opened. Her body laid intertwined in the thick of tables and chairs. The moonlight shun onto her bruised body, her bloody neck. She had already realised that her ability to talk was dismembered brutally by her devil of a brother. She could hear the deep breathing of her daughter Rachael; the breathing was louder than the oozing of blood of her throat. All the sounds stayed in rhythm, all the ticks, the tocks, heavy breathing and oozing blood stayed in perfect orchestra. Her strength had been eliminated, couldn’t stand up. Although she tried and tried it only resulted in knocking over chairs and the odd table. She tried to cry out for Tony but the sound wouldn’t come out. Just a long streak of air that escaped from her mouth. Was this the end? Was it going to be the end for her without at least saying goodbye to her ultimate love. The gates were already opened. This was strange as normally the black gates stood strong defending the Sayers Estate. The security box was broken open and wires hung out of it, crackling with loose electricity. “What is going on?” Matt thought to himself and he was right to be suspicious. He parked the car up outside the gate and ran into the estate grounds. Stones flickered from his shoes and he sprinted down the road that led to the estate. He had no idea what was going on but he knew that he had to do something. 8:25 PM, 5 minutes to detonation The road was long; it never seemed this long when he drove it. The estate was in view and all he could see was darkness. Soon, soon it was to be over. Minutes seemed like decades. Still consumed in darkness he flipped open his phone and dialled a small number into it. He held it up to his freshest ear and talked down it. “You in position?” “Yeah, what about you, how’s things” “don’t worry about it, I had to hurt Amy a little bit but she is fine, ready for your glorious life together” “you didn’t harm her that bad did you, still good enough for you know what” “yes, she is still good enough for intercourse but please, I don’t want to imagine her with your dirty filthy body” “what’s that ticking?” “My watch, it keeps me company” “whatever just don’t fuck this Jason” “just keep your eye on the house my friend, I will drag her unconscious body to you” “that’s perfect” the line cut out. 8:29 PM, the final minute “I must get there, I must save them!”, his beard had grown like his fathers through stress, his body was cut and bloodied by running through the forest, his eyes shifted from open to shut through fatigue, his mouth was soiled with gunk, his muscled legs ached with strain. Before he knew it he was in front of the estate with only seconds of time left. With all the might that remained in the love-crazed freak, Man dived his shoulder into the door and broke it in two. Then ran inside the dark, messy mansion that smelled of blood and fear. Jason jumped up with complete surprise; Man’s love had pulled him through. The love had given him secret strength that Jason had never witnessed before. The ugly and demented face did not seem to surprise Man, for he was half expected to be confronted with a Mongoloid. Only seconds remained before the bomb would explode and take everyone down along with the house. Although there was mere time left on the counter, time slowed down as for the first time Man and his nemesis stood eyes to eye, feet to feet, family to family. The inner emotion’s that lied inside the man of the house boiled and exploded as he threw himself at Jason. Both men fell but Jason landed awkwardly on his leg and had seemed to have broken it. He howled in pain but there was no time for celebration as there was only 20 seconds on the clock. Man looked around and saw his two children, beaten and gagged “look! Rachael get outta here!” a single tear ran down his eye. He couldn’t bear to look at them in the state that they were in. to them; the reaction of him being here was like a child’s first Christmas, full of glee and gladness. Rachael picked herself up and dragged along Rebecca to the exit, just as fast Man ran to the kitchen where his love laid. As he entered the room all he could see was a puddle of blood on the floor, he was too late. She was dead; his only life had crumbled before him. No sound, just the ticking that seemed to get slower each time. He walked over to the body of his ever dying love and looked at her sweet face now covered in bruises and stained in blood that streamed from her mouth and neck. Was it really over, had Jason won already? He picked up Amy’s body slowly not loosing eye contact from her shuteyes. Only 10 seconds to go now. Was there any worth to carry on? He looked deep into her, and then slowly, hugged her. A flood of tears ran down his face and connected the two. Time had fully stopped now, frozen while Tony had imagined her still with him. Her own dark secret had killed her and therefore him as well. The blood didn’t seem to stop coming out of Amy’s neck, there was no doubt that her time on earth was over. “Maybe she went to heaven, yeah, that what she believed, that’s where she went, she’s happy now, I’ll join you, I’ll love you, I’ll die with you if that’s what needs to be done, you don’t deserve this, this should be me, you should be the one here, living and breathing, loving and suffering, feeling, alive, why did you go? Why did you leave me? I know we’ve had some hard times, but just please come back, come back Amy cos I can’t live without you, please, please, PLEASE AMY JUST COME BACK” as he shouted the words rain fell. The whole world became drenched with the tears of the angels as they witnessed maybe the unthinkable. All of this happened in one second of time “time doesn’t matter anymore, you’re the one who matters now Amy”. He clenched her hair in his hands tightly and hard. He looked again at her face, somehow feeling life in her. Something just told him that she was not dead, no yet. Her eye lids flickered “yes, yes your alive, your actually alive, AMY” her eyes were fully open now, she even managed a smile. She got on her feet, only 5 seconds left. They both ran with all their love out of the house. On the way out, only 3 seconds to go, Tony could see in the darkness his two daughters who had collapsed in the hallway. He let go of Amy’s hand, throwing her out of the front door and out of the mansion. He grabbed the two children, one arm for both and made the final run for it. The last second, the last chance collided as Tony jumped out of the front door. While still in midair, the bomb exploded sending a chain reaction through the house triggering the final blow. Tony fell onto the ground scraping his face, his grip loosened around both girls. Rachael rolled safely away from danger but Rebecca bounced along the front of the house and collided with Jason’s car. As he arrived all he could see was a massive blaze covering all of his sight. He ran to where the survivors were, Amy, Tony, Rachael but what really baffled Matt was… why was Amy crying over Rebecca.
