Nethron (4)
Adam Robinson

The battle raged on fiercely for hours, and the line of goblins never ceased to come over the horizon. When Nethron could see the end of the goblins, his heart was lightened.
Nethron was fighting a troll when he saw it. More enemies.
On a hill to the east, there were twenty more trolls, armed with huge maces. Nethron killed the troll he was fighting with a flurry of shining metal, and ran to Muisick, who was also looking at the other trolls.
Nethron called the army, the centaurs, the animals that were left, and the giants, who were many sizes larger than the trolls.
When the army was reformed, they marched toward the trolls, getting closer and closer, until Nethron could see details. There were not only trolls but at least five hundred more goblins. The goblins were followed by a hundred orcs.
The battle continued with the other enemies, until both sides had lost many. The evil side had lost all, but the good side only half.
Nethron wondered where Xenith was. He had not showed a sign of himself the whole battle.
Just when Nethron was going to proclaim victory, a black light shone from the left of him. Nethron turned, and, ten feet away, was Xenith on Zildian.
Nethron mounted Muisick, and told the others to go to the castle. gXenith has finally come.h He said to Xenith, remembering what the Ilya Istya Ingole had said.
Xenith yelped, and Nethron took the moment that Xenith wasnft guarded by his sword. Right before Nethron laid the blow to Xenithfs head, He regained his composure and blocked Nethronfs blow.
Nethron thought of something. He asked Xenith many questions, all beginning in eXenithf. Xenith had barely enough energy to block Nethronfs blows.
Xenith then thought of something. gLau anto!h he yelled.
Nethronfs mouth sealed shut. No matter how hard he tried, he could not undo Xenithfs powerful spell.
It was now a challenge of speed and skill.

Chapter 11
Nethronfs Struggle
N
ethron used his sword as fast as he could. Xenith was very swift with his sword, and was always quicker that Nethron.
Nethron decided to use an old trick Sabian had taught him. He jumped off of Muisick, and landed on a rock that was below Xenith. Xenith jumped off of Zildian, and did the same. It was now Muisick and Zildian, and Nethron and Xenith.
Muisick was using all the magic he could use, but Zildian always blocked with another spell. This went on, and they also fought with their teeth.
After a while, something strange happened. Zildian said, gEr!h but nothing happened.
Muisick thought Zildianfs limit had been reached, so he said gEr!h right back, and a fireball shot toward Zildian.
Zildian yelled, gNen!h but the fireball was still there. gNen! Nen! Nen!h He yelled, but it was worthless. His limit had been reached.
The fire enveloped him, and he gave a high pitched squeal and died. Muisick had won.
But Nethron had not. He and Xenith were fighting like mad, and neither was winning. Nethron said, gQualme!h but nothing happened. He too, had reached his limit.
Xenith smiled. He had won. He advanced toward Nethron, uttering a long and horrible spell. He paused on the last word, so that Nethron would feel even more horrible.
Nethron looked at the full moon. It was only a moment until midnight.
Xenith said the last word, and a blur of light and moving blackness sped toward Nethron. But it never reached its target.
A light come out of the sky and landed in front of Nethron. The spell that Xenith had cast fell harmlessly off of the light. The light sped toward Xenith, and knocked him down. Then it disappeared.
Halve a minute until twelve.
Xenith was getting up, now fifty feet away.
Fifteen seconds.
Xenith was up.
Ten seconds.
gEr!h Xenith yelled. A fireball sped out of his hand toward Nethron.
Eight seconds.
The fireball was forty feet away.
 Six seconds.
Thirty feet to go.
Five seconds.
Twenty feet.
Four seconds.
Ten feet.
Two seconds.
Nethron could feel the gruesome heat from the fireball
Twelve o clock.
gNen!h Nethron said, and the fireball turned to water. gSicil! Nuru! Lau mare! Ondo!h Nethron said all the things that came to his mind to confuse Xenith.
Xenith blocked, and the things Nethron had said were undone.
Xenith looked up, and coming down on him was a boulder that Nethron had put there with magic. It came down too fast for Xenith to respond. It damaged him.
Xenith was dead. But what had knocked Xenith away from Nethron?
gI am the one.h Said a voice behind him. Nethron turned to see Sabian, yet not quite Sabian. He was pure white. He was not standing on the ground, but floating.
gWhat are you?h Nethron asked.
gI am dead. I have lived two thousand years. I live with the Ilya Istya Ingole.h
Nethron smiled. gDo you like it?h He asked.
gYes.h Sabian answered. gDemoer is here too, which makes it wonderful for me. I have to leave now.h Sabian disappeared.
Nethron looked around. Where is Muisick? He thought.

After Muisick had killed Zildian, he felt very tired. But he had to help Nethron. He ran toward Where Nethron and Xenith and Nethron were fighting.
Then a voice said, gThis is Nethronfs battle. You have already won yours.h
And so Muisick lay down to sleep. After a while he was aroused a hand on his shoulder. He opened his eyes, and in front of his face, looking into his eyes was Nethron.
Nethron smiled at Muisick. gYou won?h
gYes!h Muisick replied. gDid you?h
gWhat does it look like?h Nethron asked jokingly. gI lost so badly that Xenith felt sorry for me. Boo hoo.h Nethron paused. gIfm only kidding. Of course I won!h
gGood,h Muisick replied. gLetfs go see who won the other battle.h
Nethron mounted Muisick, and then got off. gLetfs bring the carcasses back to the city to prove that we won. We can keep them for souvenirs.
Muisick tied Zildian to his tail, and Nethron carried Xenith. Together they went back to Gemore.
After a while, Muisick yelled, gI written another couplet!
Nethron smiled. gWhat is it?h
Muisick cleared his throat and recited,

gVictory for me and you,
Yet Jemico needs killing, too.h

Nethron started. gJemico,h He said. gI forgot about him.h
gLetfs go back to the city, then find and kill Jemico.h Muisick suggested.
gYoufve got a deal.h

Chapter 12
Greedy Plenermty
E
ver since the battle began, Plenermty fought like a man, for he did not want to be outdone by Nethron. Nethron was not the kind of person Plenermty liked. In actuality, Plenermty didnft like anyone but himself. He would sit in his chamber all day, counting his money greedily.
Although he was not the best fighter, he waved his sword wildly, and found that it worked well enough for this one time he would be fighting. He looked at Nethron, who was swinging his sword like a pro. In greedy horror, Plenermty realized that Nethron was a pro.
Plenermty tried to use magic, but the results were disastrous. He yelled, gLar lelya!h Like he had seen the centaur do at the beginning of the battle. His arm stopped swinging his sword; no matter how hard he tried, his arm wouldnft move. As soon as he said the second word, his arm replayed everything he had done during the battle in fast motion. He could do nothing about it.
When that had finished, he decided not to do any more magic. He resumed waving his sword like a mad man.
After a while, he heard laughing behind him. He turned around and looked up onto the top of the city wall.
On the wall was a goblin, laughing hysterically. He was dumping out Plenermtyfs money in the hundreds of dollars. The money fell down through the air and landed in the mud.
Plenermty felt his face get red hot. His money was being wasted by the thousands. In his greed, he abandoned the rest of the army to kill the goblin that was pouring out his money. He ran quickly to his chamber, and found the goblin.
The goblin heard his footsteps, and turned, drawing his sword.
Plenermty started waving his sword wildly. The goblin flicked his sword, and Plenermtyfs sword flew out of his hand and stuck in the wall.
The goblin started to swing his sword at Plenermty. Plenermty tried ducking and dodging, but he was not fast enough. He jumped on the goblin and took his sword and threw it at the wall. It didnft stick like Plenermtys had, but the goblin was disarmed.
The goblin took Plenermty by the waist and brought him to the window. With a flourish, he threw Plenermty out of the window.
Plenermty fell, speeding to meet his fate with his precious money. He fell into the mud and broke his arm on the ground. All went black.

When Plenermty came to, the battle was over. He was standing alone on the battlefield. His arm throbbed.
Presently, he saw a shape on the horizon. It moved closer, and he could tell it was Nethron and Muisick. They carried two limp figures.
When Nethron was within earshot, Plenermty yelled, gWho goes there?h
gItfs me, Nethron.h Nethron answered. gWhat are you doing here?h
gIfm looking over the field of my victory.h Plenermty replied.
gItfs not your victory.h Muisick said. gYour army fought bravely. You did nothing but wave your sword like a blind man.h
Plenermty tried to hold back his rage. gYou good for nothing, blasted hyena. I bet I killed more than you.h
gEnough.h Nethron said. gWhere did the rest of the army go?h
gThey fled.h Plenermty lied. gI was the only one that didnft fly.h
Nethron knew Plenermty better than to believe him. gMy dear sir,h He began. gWhat drives you to lie to us? Tell us the truth and we will not be angry.h
gWhatever.h Plenermty said. gI went to try to kill a goblin that was pouring out my money. He threw me out the window where I broke my arm, and I know not what happened to the rest of the army.h
Muisick started toward the castle, and when he did, Plenermty saw something to add to his riches. A golden sword. gWhose sword is that?h He asked Nethron.
gIt is Xenithfs.h Nethron said. gI killed him and have his carcass.h
gCan I have the sword?h Plenermty asked greedily.
gNo,h Nethron said. gAnyone who touches it dies instantly.h
Plenermty moved his hand slowly toward the sword. Nethron made no move to take it away so that he wouldnft die. gIf you really think that Ifll die if I touch it, why arenft you stopping me?h Plenermty asked.
gI would die if I touched it.h Nethron replied.
gThen use your precious magic.h Plenermty said.
gI cannot touch it with magic either.h
Plenermty reached his hand out quickly and grabbed the sword. He died instantly.

Chapter 13
King Nethron
A
fter Plenermty died, Nethron decided to go see the city. The gates were wide open, and all was barren and lifeless. No one roamed the streets but him and Muisick. The city did not look as if it had been defeated, only as if everyone had abandoned it. There were no dead bodies lying on the streets, only clean, polished brick.
Suddenly, a beaver burst from behind a building. gA kingfs welcome!h He yelled, and the streets lit up with action.
Five centaurs seemed to appear to Nethronfs left, all smiling broadly. To Nethronfs right, the bear, the leopards, two wolves, and Sabian stood, all shining the same way Sabian did. Nethron concluded that they all had died in the battle. In front of him, the giants stood on the left and right sides of him, ushering him through onward.
In front of him, Sabian walked out from the right. He walked up to Nethron and put his paw on Nethronfs head. gNethron Femneth,h He began. gYou slay the evil power of Xenith. In that deed, you gave freedom to all who stand here today. Even the mighty giants Quin and Quipt were under Xenithfs power. In thanks, these grateful animals would like to give you a gift. Representing these animals is the noble centaur Cablent.h
A centaur came up to Nethron and brought out a beautiful crown. He placed it on Nethronfs head, who could think of nothing to say.
gYou are now King Nethron Femneth the magnificent.h Sabian said.
Nethron smiled, but then his smile changed to a frown. gWhat about Muisick?h He asked.
A silence hung in the air.
gI could not live with this crown and all this glory of being a king knowing one nobler than me lived without the things I had.h Nethron took the crown off of his head. gIn that knowledge, I place this crown on Muisickfs head.h He did as he said.
Muisick didnft like this arrangement. gAtta!h He commanded, and the crown split in two. gMy reasoning is the same as Nethronfs.h He said. gI would give him the crown for himself, but he would not take it. So I take this half, and Nethron can have the other.h
Sabian smiled. gYou both have better brains than me.h He said. gI thought nothing of this. I thought only of Nethron, and never gave thought of Muisick.h He turned to Nethron and said, gI sir name you Nethron Femneth the giving.h Turning to Muisick and said, gYou shall be Muisick the selfless.h He said.
Nethron and Muisick smiled at each other, for they both agreed on this.
Sabian led them through the streets, to some unknown destination. The animals on either side of Nethron cheered wildly. Nethron hated having all the attention, but he bore it silently. Sabian led him and Muisick to a chamber, where there was a magnificent throne. Sabian cloned them quickly, and motioned for Nethron and Muisick to sit down. After they did, he disappeared before Nethron could thank him or say anything. Nethron looked all the animals surrounding him, and said, gTogether, let us restore peace to the world.h The animals cheered, but Nethron continued. gXenithfs reign is over!h
