Wighead
David Daniels

Do you know what it's like to go bald?
Do you know what kind of affect it has on the brain?
To see all of the hairs on your head
Collect around the bathtub drain

So one day I got a notion
To go and purchase some hair
I just wish that when I walked into the Hair Club
There was a sign telling me to beware

But I got my little hair hat
And I thought it looked nice and neat
And no one could tell me it wasn't my hair
Because I could prove it with my receipt

My best buddy named 'Bo' was very supportive
He even said I looked cool
But when I excused myself to use his bathroom
I overheard him laugh and call me a fool

But the hardest part was being a C.O. in jail
The inmates would scream out "Hey Abbott!"
And I would constantly check the mirror
It was an annoying little habit

Oh how the inmates made me mad
I wanted to knock them dead
But I was afraid to fight for fear of
My wig getting ripped off my head

People would snicker behind my back
Little children would stop and stare
They would point their little fingers and say
"Mommy,that man has fake hair"

The officers I worked with
Nicknamed me Elvis the King
During my lunch breaks in the cafeteria
They would all urge me to dance and sing

I would often be made fun of
On the bathroom walls
I would read jokes about my black wig
When I sat in the bathroom stalls

The before wig years and the after wig years
That's how I veiw my life
Can you believe I got married wearing a wig?
Much to the embarrassment of my wife

Do you know how it feels to veiw your wedding pictures?
With something on your head that resembles a skunk?
Little did anyone know that when I bought my wig
I was rip,roarin' drunk

But my wig was really something
That covered up my pain
I must've been really hurting
Either that or I was temporarily insane

At first I couldn't remove my wig
It was permanently attached to my head
I thought I was going to wear that damn wig
Until the day I dropped dead

But then I got an adjustment
I got little silver snaps
And I was able to take my wig on and off
Like it was a baseball cap

And still I wore my wig
With confidence and pride
And thanks to the silver snaps
At night while I lay in bed I could keep it at my side

I would faithfully go to the Hair Club
And oh,the money I would pay
And I would say a prayer each morning
And hope to God it wasn't a windy day

But some said I looked handsome
They said I looked distinguished just like Abe Lincoln
But on the day I finally took off my wig forever
Everybody asked "What the hell were you thinking?"

I would often relax with my wig
My wig and I would get into deep meditation
But I truly feel that wearing a wig
Is the reason I'm on medication

But now I look upon my wig wearin' days
And it's something that I can laugh at
Now my wig is a playmate
For 'Pepper' my adorable little cat

Oh the shit I went through
Just to have a head of hair
Me and my black wig
We really made quite a pair

Sometimes I think I went crazy
Sometimes I feel that my brain cells were dead
There the only reasons I can think of
For wearing a fuckin' wig on my head
