Where You Live Briony Carvalho
Face the crowds and grey suited masses
Face the pile of work on the desk
Face the words of criticism from the boss
Face the endless stream of emails
‘I know it’s not your job but could you…’
‘I know I should have done this but could you….’
Face the long ‘sorry for the delay’ journey home
Face the bickering and fighting in the house
Face the endless things begging to be cleaned and washed
Face the flashing box that fills your mind with desires and wants
‘Our product will make you slim and beautiful…’
‘Our product will help you win the man of your dreams…’
Crowding dreams of golden beaches
Chasing rainbows on unicorns of silver
Dancing on cliff tops with wind billowing
Diving into deep swirling pools of dark blue
That’s where you live
The world behind reality
Stealing me from the day
Letting me be whoever I can imagine I am
Snippets of your unreality seep between the hours
Keeping my mind sane enough to go again
And again
And again…
