The Seed Sewn
DESCRIPTION
This is a poem I wrote for my mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary

The Seed Sewn
What did mama and Daddy first think
When they met at The Village Barn
which was a skating rink

Mama's friend Marie introduced them
that Day
I can imagine mama , shy and bashful
As she worked up ther courage
to say hey.

Daddy was at home about to re-enlist
I know he was glad he was
or he may have lost out on their first kiss.

The seed of love was sewn that day
and they dated for a while
But her Soldier had to go away

They wrote letters and dated
for a couple years
It was hard to be separated
they felt the pain and shed the tears

Mama's Soldier traveled here
and yonder
It's true the Say'n "Absence makes
the heart grow fonder.

Under the Shade of a ole oak tree
Johnny ask Carolyn
"Will you marry me"?

Mama had the answer yes
in her head

But the words from her lips
were "I'll think about it"
Instead.

So after about a day
Daddy heard the answer soft
And gently in his ear
It was yes the
Answer he , oh so longed to hear

The Were United at St. Johns
Methodist Church and became
as one
After more than a year
of wedded bliss
was then blessed with a son

After such a wonderful blessing
They thought, to have another
Would be so refreshing.

eleven months later the family
tree grew
no with just one boy
but a little girl, which made two

After me they thought
there would be no more
but God is the great scorekeeper
and only he knows the score.

Aprox. 4 years later
Another Blessing came
so sweet and new
Full of spunk and life
was their little baby
they named Debbie Sue

From the seed of love sewn
Love blossomed and flourished
Cultivated with love, prayer, and
understanding it was
so nourished.

Their love together kept our family strong
And mama worked hard at making
our many houses into homes.

God was the first in our family
We had a well defined line between
right and wrong.
Our family tree continued to grow
Beautiful , with great, flowering blossoms
From the seed of love
Once sewn.
