The Day I Helped Santa
David Wrigley

Sleeping very soundly I was awoken by a noise
Could it be Santa arriving with my toys?

I dressed up in a hurry with t-shirt inside out
To investigate the scene, where santa was about.

I rushed into the lounge room and there I saw a sight,
Santa was there alright and having quite a night.

I peeped up the chimney place to get a better view,
and heard all sorts of mumbling and it wasn't just a few.

See it appears that old saint nick had botched things up alright,
Because the big fat jolly man was in jammed up in our chimney
and boy he was in there tight!.

"Hows it going Santa? do you have a gift for me?"
But he really didn't say much apart from mumbling.

I sat there for a while and a few minutes had past,
I needed to get him out of there and it needed to be fast.

As I looked around the room an idea came to me,
I would use that sharp metal thing right next to our chimney.

It had worked well with our firewood for moving things about,
I would use it on the big man as he needed moving out.

So I lined up Santa Claus and gave a good hard prod,
He shot up out our chimney place and left our neighbourhood.

That was the last time I ever saw Santa, he never did return,
But I did recieve next christmas a letter that he would sue.
