Temporarily Misplaced
David Daniels

I've lost so many things in life
They know me by name at the 'Lost and Found'
I keep losing everything I own
If I were a king I'd lose my crown

I've lost my way so many times
I don't know which way is up or down
I've lost sight of what I'm looking for
No need to bother and look around

I've lost my way so many times
Don't know which road to take
Tried to make it through the gate's of heaven
But can you believe I lost the key for heaven's sake

No need to try and find me
'Cause I'm lost and in a daze
Went for a swim in the ocean
And got lost among the waves

I went to my family doctor
I said "Doctor, can you help me find a cure?"
He said "I can't find the right medicine for you, son"
"Because your soul is lost and your heart ain't pure"

I went to the priest at the church
I said "Father, can you help me find my soul?"
He said "All I can do is pray for you, son"
"Because you've gone and lost all control"

I went to visit my Mama
I said "Mama, can you find the time?"
She said "I can't find anything for you, boy"
"Because you ain't no son of mine"

The Landlord came a knocking
Asking, did I find money to pay the rent
I told him I lost all my money
So now I'm living in a tent

So I went to my brother
I said "Brother, can you share your happy home?"
He said "Brother, have you lost your mind?"
He slammed the door shut and shouted "Leave me alone!"

So I went to my sister
I said "Sis,can you lend me money to pay my rent?"
She said "I had to feed the children"
"So my money has been spent"

I went to good ol' grandma
I said "Grandma,can you spare a dime?"
She said "Son,I've spent my social security"
"I've got no money and I haven't got the time"

I feel like a Rabbit
That can't find it's hole
I'd sell myself to the Devil
But I went and lost my soul

I feel like a squirrel
That lost it's only nut
I've lost the strength in my legs
So now I can't even kick myself in the butt

I feel like a candle
That lost it's burning flame
Don't know who I am
Because I seem to have lost my name

Got to keep truckin'
Even though the Repoman took my car
I've got to keep wishin'
If I can just find a falling star

Got to hold my head up high
Can't lose what little stregnth I have left inside
But holding your head high is hard to do
When you've lost all of your pride

Got to find an answer
Got to find a way
If I could just find the right path
I'm sure it would lead me to brighter days

Got to keep hoping
Got to keep hope alive
If I lose all hope
Ain't no way I'm gonna survive

Got to keep believing
Got to keep a strong mind
Then maybe my sanity will be
The one thing I find

Got to carry on
Can't lose the smile on my face
Afterall,maybe I ain't lost
Maybe I'm just temporarily misplaced
