Searching For Hope

Searching for Hope

She wasnt rich. She wasnt extremely intellect. She wasnt completely beautiful. But she was
kind, honest and our hero.

My world and everyone elses was falling apart. we wouldnt survive much longer. Everything
had turned against us. All of the worlds elements.
The seas were out of control, everyday more people drowned. Fires raged wildly. Everything
the human race had made, gone.

Why are we being punished? everyone asked. But noone answered.

My home was destroyed three days ago, by a fire. Nothing left, Including my whole
neighbourhood. Debris everywhere.

I lost something dear to me that day. My little sister Maria. She didnt make it out. Poor
child, she was only ten. But i guess its better that way. Her misery is gone. The pain
and fear has left her. She will not have to suffer along with the rest of us. Sleep well
my darling sister.

Just me and mum left now. Wheres the father you might ask? Dad left when i was five. One
night he just vannished. Never heard of him again. Drunken idiot. Hes probably dead.

I dont understand. Noone seems to. I fear this is all some stupid human mistake.

I wander through my town. Wreckadge. Death everywhere. Noone to clean up the mess.
I walk past my highschool. Nothing now. All thats left is some old pans. I knew they were
indestructible, after all that crap that goes in there, that we got feed every lunch time.
I was at school the day 'the mess' happened.

Mr Lobi was lecturing us again. No point i think. Nobody ever listens.
"Jazz! What did i just say?" he had asked.
I parted my lips, some horrible insult on the tip of my tounge... And *BOOM!*
The science class next door exploded.

Everyone started screaming. The school bully, Jason, hid under his desk. Screams of pain
came within seconds. All was a rush of confusion. Everyone was too scared to help.

Except Hope...

She ran into the next classroom. Even though fire burned through the building. Sirens were
ringing. Time seemed to stand still. I watched in shock as that brave girl plunged into the
flames.

I'd never really noticed her before now. In the one moment my life was in danger, i was
noticing a girl.

But i didnt have much time to think because another explosion came. It was a giant *CRACK!*
that shook the walls. More screaming. I was rooted to the spot. My legs were non responsive.
And i screamed with everyone else.
My eyes stuck, starring into the next classes doorway. A siluette appeared. Two, no three.

Hope appeared dragging two fellow students. She took them clear of the fire and ran back
into the jaws of death.

That day only 173 students survived.
There used to be 1568 students at my school. 14 of those students owed their lives to Hope.
But i fear for heer safety. After her 14th rescue, Hope ran into that doorway, and i never
saw her again. Its been three weeks. Is she still alive?

(to be continued)
