Chapter 1
Bam! Bam! Bam! It had only taken Amberly three
bullets from her handgun to take out the
spotlight that was searching the yard, in which
she stood on. 'That should show them, whoever
they are, that I am not a zombie.'

“Ah! Hey hey. Hello? Don’t shoot!” A deep
tomboyish voice cried out above in the guard
tower.

“Say Uncle,” Amberly said amused with herself.

'Shit!' Chelsea thought to herself. 'I’m over
here shooting away at the infected and all of a
sudden, I’m the one who gets shot at! This lady
means well, I can see.' “Hey, I’m coming down.”
She peered over the window ledge before climbing
down the ladder.

Amberly raised her weapon to eye level, keeping
her guard up as this lone feminine figure walked
over to her. When she was up closer to her, she
noticed the girl looked younger than herself.
Being merely seventeen and a lesbian, she found
this stranger quite attractive.

Chelsea followed her gaze and realized she was
being studied. She raised her hands up in front
of the gun as she nervously exclaimed, “Calm
down, Miss Beauty, I give!“ 'Oh, that was stupid.
I mean; I give? Come on! Well, I just blew my
first impression.' She grinned a little when it
was lowered from her face hesitantly, a few
seconds later.

'Miss Beauty? That’s a new one.' Amberly decided
that this girl must be full of herself but at the
same time, she felt a certain sense of calmness
being around her.

“The name’s Chelsea Sharpe,” she awkwardly stuck
her left hand out in front of her, intended for
a handshake.

“Amberly Taliaferro,” and she felt herself form
a little smile at the corner of her lips. She
nodded her head softly towards her, “So what’s a
sexy girl like you doing out alone around here?”

“I could only ask the same for you,” Chelsea
stammered shyly as she felt a tingly sensation in
her jaw line when her cheeks flashed a tint of
rose quickly. God, that was a total give away
that I wasn’t straight!

Amberly giggled to herself, she was interested
in this new friend that she was making. “Well, I
asked you first,” she stated to throw the ball
back at her.

Chelsea’s voice got caught in her throat as she
looked down at Amberly’s body for once. She was
wearing these tight denim shorts that was
muddied. Combat boots, also muddied. A blue vest
unzipped that was covering half of a wife beaters
underneath. It clung to her chest most likely
from sweat and rain. Revealed her flat stomach,
her whole suit, in fact, showed off a lean
athletic body. Although she looked exhausted,
her icy blue eyes sparkled full of life. 'Say
something damn it. Stop checking her out! Play it
cool.' “You’re not a zombie,” she blurted out,
not thinking.

“No shit,” she responded, noticing Chelsea’s long
lingering gazes. There was no way in heck that
Umbrella hired this kid. She could tell more and
more with every word that came out her mouth.
Amberly didn’t really like duo projects all that
much. Depending on someone and then having
someone depend of you was almost half as bad.
Her voices were getting at her about it too. She
glanced at the gun still in her hand; 'that’s a
M93R you’ve got there.' An Italian 9mm to be
exact, it apparently was a standard issue for
the prison guards because she retrieved it from
one’s outstretched fingers. Her sister had had
one of them so that’s how she even knew about it.
'Now', her voices continued, 'if you shot from
this range, most of that pretty face would be
laying on the ground below.' 'No, she’s an
exception, she urged with them.'

“Anyways Ma’am,” Chelsea said, cocking an
eyebrow, obviously trying to be some sort of
Prince Charming. “Amberly, that’s a beautiful
name. I’ll definitely remember that.” She saw
that she didn’t really know how to react so she
continued. “No really, I mean it. But as much as
I’d love to stay. I’ve got a plane to catch,
considering if I found one,” and she let out a
sigh. “But don’t worry. I’ll be sure to look for
you before I leave though. Be careful around
here, it’s dangerous.” She started walking
towards a door that was directly across from the
guard tower. “See you later, girly.”

Amberly was so stunned and shock that she nearly
couldn’t find her voice in time to speak. She
felt like she had been rejected and backslapped
at the same time. “Chels - Hey wait! I think –“
She was now at the door.

She turned around and shook her head.
“No following me, okay? No offense, but you’ll
only slow me down.” She smiled and worked on eye
contact as much as possible. “And you’d, “ she
winked, “definitely be a distraction. You’ll be
fine, trust me. Just keep your eyes and ears
open.” That was it, she was through the door and
gone before Amberly could even say anything more.

Dumbfounded, she watched the door shut behind
her. She wondered how Chelsea had survived this
far. With her type of attitude, it was like this
was but a video game to her. That nothing could
harm or possibly kill her. 'I have to go in after
her, whether she likes it or not.' An
‘aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooo’, infected
Doberman Pincher’s cry, broke loose right as she
slipped through the door.
