Mended Heart
R Bennett Okerstrom

Blind faith in love can only hurt
The honest image of portrayal,
Ingenuous will cannot desert
The harmony that will entail.

If we should fall under the spell
That beckons 'cross the meadows,
Our love will strengthen, cell by cell
And cast away the shadows.

Deceit, deception and denial
Will disappear together,
The sun will shine with a warm smile
Enlightening the pleasure.

The faith anew will start to spread
To silence many voices,
That echo in your heart and head
To taint thoughts, even choices.

The mended heart will prove too strong
You'll shed the ancient molding,
And realize that all along
Tis I you've dreamt of holding.
