Influence R Bennett Okerstrom
Frightened,
I await his
Inevitable arrival.
I’ve felt his presence,
Heard his voice,
No chance for survival.
Tonight, he will come
Under dark moonlit skies.
Unseen by the masses,
No need for disguise.
He’ll float through the shadows,
He’ll whisk on the wind.
He’ll coax like a maestro,
No chance to rescind.
For once I give in
To his masterful charm,
Nothing can save me,
Stake, cross or gendarme.
The windows are locked,
The doors bolted closed.
All entries are blocked,
I’m never exposed.
Yet I know he will find me,
Take grasp of my hair,
Reveal my warm body,
My neck he will bare.
And with great precision
He’ll take my life source.
He’ll drink every drop,
He’ll show no remorse.
He’ll leave me for dead,
For someone to find,
A limp, bloodless body,
No clues left behind.
He’s out there right now,
I sense he’s converging.
I feel him inside me
I’m fighting his urging.
To unlock the windows.
To unbolt the doors.
He’s done this before
To enter boudoirs.
How many before me
Unable to fight
Have succumbed to this devil
For fear that he might
Not really be evil
In fact, maybe good
With hopes he would leave them
Breathing right where they stood?
Hundreds? No, thousands.
Left dead in his wake.
I must be much stronger,
My life is at stake.
His presence is growing,
His influence great.
I’m losing control,
Can’t shut out his prate.
He’s winning this battle,
He’s winning the war.
I’ve stopped him for weeks,
But never before
Has he entered so deeply,
Straight down to my core,
I know what he’s thinking,
“That’s right, you’re my whore.”
