R Bennett Okerstrom
I await his
Iíve felt his presence,
Heard his voice,
No chance for survival.
Tonight, he will come
Under dark moonlit skies.
Unseen by the masses,
No need for disguise.
Heíll float through the shadows,
Heíll whisk on the wind.
Heíll coax like a maestro,
No chance to rescind.
For once I give in
To his masterful charm,
Nothing can save me,
Stake, cross or gendarme.
The windows are locked,
The doors bolted closed.
All entries are blocked,
Iím never exposed.
Yet I know he will find me,
Take grasp of my hair,
Reveal my warm body,
My neck he will bare.
And with great precision
Heíll take my life source.
Heíll drink every drop,
Heíll show no remorse.
Heíll leave me for dead,
For someone to find,
A limp, bloodless body,
No clues left behind.
Heís out there right now,
I sense heís converging.
I feel him inside me
Iím fighting his urging.
To unlock the windows.
To unbolt the doors.
Heís done this before
To enter boudoirs.
How many before me
Unable to fight
Have succumbed to this devil
For fear that he might
Not really be evil
In fact, maybe good
With hopes he would leave them
Breathing right where they stood?
Hundreds? No, thousands.
Left dead in his wake.
I must be much stronger,
My life is at stake.
His presence is growing,
His influence great.
Iím losing control,
Canít shut out his prate.
Heís winning this battle,
Heís winning the war.
Iíve stopped him for weeks,
But never before
Has he entered so deeply,
Straight down to my core,
I know what heís thinking,
ďThatís right, youíre my whore.Ē
