I Hear Your Heart Geneva Keith
I don't see you with my eyes, I hear your heart;
The world they get angry to see a young man, with many a fault.
I see the tears that don't fall, I see your soul;
So scared and so lonely, can't let yourself show.
Michael, you were a spoiled child, that's not your fault;
Cause they bought and done for you, then called it love.
Didn't give you what you needed, then when you demanded more;
They only got angry, they couldn't see, that your heart was torn.
High school took its toll on a boy with acceptance as his goal;
Not like years gone by as the class clown.
When they laughed at you and with you,only wanted to make a friend;
But they'd laugh to pick you up, to throw you down.
And when you couldn't cut it, you would pack it in;
To roam the streets and sidewalks, didn't have a friend.
You are not a loser like they say, just lost to yourself;
To find yourself in trouble, another street kid tale.
You would beg and steal and borrow, cause you didn't want to work;
Found excitement driving other peoples cars.
Till the day that you met Zoe, and you changed your life for her;
But life caught up with a young man at nineteen, locked behind bars.
Swore she'd newer leave you, came to see you everyday,
The love of your life your one true friend.
But she was young and time went on, till the day she didn't come
And you break open and bleed once again, your love has no end.
She doesn't know the wounds she opened, in your heart;
One day they'll heal over, next day they'll scar.
But they bleed a river, with every tear;
Therefore you harden your heart and won't cry, can't show you care.
Today you've found the meanest, and toughest in the croud;
Not anyone, will mess with you no more.
No one will ever hurt you, cause you learned how not to care;
Can't let them get close to you, afraid, your heart will tear.
Mike you are my brother, I once was just like you;
That's how I know, one day, you'll stand alone and make it through.
And the times that I get angry, when you break our momma's heart;
I see the tears that she's crying again, this time for you.
But in your darkest hour, you'll find a way to shine;
So I write these words to reach, another heart that's quit the fight.
Someday you'll see a reason, in everything that we've been through;
Then you will know, the Lord has bigger plans for you.
He won't see you with his eyes, He knows your heart;
The world they get angry to see a young man, with many a fault.
He sees the tears you don't cry, deep in your soul;
So scared and so lonely, won't let yourself show.
