Golden Fields
Philip Matthew Alarie

Will you remember me,
When the gentle summer wind blows-
Across the golden wheat fields?
We’ll forget the morning star,
In its envious sky-
As together,
We walk,
Hand in hand-
Within these golden fields.

Into my arms,
You fell-
And we lay,
Side by side,
 Upon these golden fields.
And I asked you;
“Will you be my lover?”
“Will I always have you?”
We’ll forget the morning star,
In its envious sky-
As we lie,
Side by side.

Feel the gentle summer wind flow-
Like two lovers souls-
Upon these golden fields.
I feel your body rise-
As I kiss your lips.
I’ve never lightly made promises-
But there are some I admit I’ve broken-
But I swear,
My heart shall stay here-
Can you promise me the same?

Much time has since gone by,
Since those summer days,
In those golden fields.
Watch the children play,
As the sunset dwindles in the west-
Upon the golden fields-
And remember me,
When the gentle summer wind blows.
You can tell the morning star-
In its envious sky-
About when we walked,
Hand in hand-
Within those golden fields…
