God Force Reverses Time
Michael Potter

Once in a little niche of time and space, there was a galaxy. Somewhere fairly deep in this galaxy there was this certain solar system. All was relatively peaceful and all of its planets made their way around their sun in their own time and orbit. It was a good solar system and god dwelt in the airless space between the planets.
Hanna was in the kitchen doing the dishes while Red was back in the living room reading about the war in the Mid-East. At the same time he was reading that there was a tremendous battle going on...
The red phone rang in his office. It made the president forget what he was thinking about. He answered it. It was a call from the Mid-East. They said that someone had blown up a major city with one of our rockets. They said they didn't think that we had fired it, but that a smaller nation had somehow captured it and fired it. They said it really didn't matter who fired it at the moment because there were Chinese and Russian rockets heading for the president's country in retaliation.
The president dropped the phone and ran into the secret elevator that went down into a deep under ground bunker. When he was down there he pushed the button that triggered all of his rockets. Then he made a decision that was very difficult. He decided not push the button that would warn the nation. He knew it was too late.
Hanna turned on the television and sat down next to Red. They watched the program with intense disinterest and then they heard an explosion that made all the hair on their heads stand up. They had just enough time to run outside, see San Francisco going up in flames, a bomb go off to the north and one to the south of them and then their neighborhood being destroyed.
The third planet from the sun began to have violent eruptions and explosions. These were very strange because at the nucleus of the explosion was a very important factor. Atoms, the very substance of physical life, were splitting.
The god force flowed between and enmeshed the planets as if they were pebbles falling through an ocean. The god force felt negative vibrations from this certain solar system and found that they were emitting from the third planet nearest the sun. The god force began a concentrated investigation and discovered a space ship alien to the solar system hovering near the third planet. After probing the alien's minds the god force discovered that the aliens were from a neighboring solar system and that they had been watching this planet for some time. The god force found from the aliens that the planet was inhabited by certain physical beings that had elementary powers of thought and reason. The god force learned that the inhabitants had been experimenting with nuclear weapons and were in the process of exterminating themselves.
The god force gathered a concentration of thought into the area and decided to further the investigation. It was decided that time on the planet in question was to be stopped until the god force decided upon its fate. The planet drifted as it always had around the sun except that nothing moved on its surface. Further investigation found that if the nuclear war were allowed to continue, it would upset the orbit of the planet. In time it would collide with its moon and both would be destroyed. Investigation showed that if this were to happen the gravitational balance of the solar system would be upset and that might result in the ruin of the galaxy. If the whole galaxy were to go it could possibly destroy the whole cosmos much in the same fashion as the first nuclear explosion on earth.
It was decided that the situation needed to be corrected. As the planet continued to orbit its time was reversed and everything on the planet went in the opposite direction. The planet became just as it was before the war and then time was stopped once more. The god force disarmed the planet and put a positive feeling into all of its inhabitants. The god force withdrew and time began again.
Hanna turned on the television set and sat down next to Red. They watched a comedy and laughed and laughed. "Isn't this the funniest show you've seen in a long time?" asked Red.
"It sure is. Funniest thing I've seen on TV since I was a child," Hanna replied.
They watched the news and discovered the war in the Mid-East had come to an end. There wasn't much else on except for an astronomer who said it appeared that the world had lost a day. When they went to bed that night they even made love. When they woke up in the morning they felt good. The next day Red had his newspaper cancelled and after awhile nobody read them. There was only good news and it really wasn't all that interesting.
