TITLE (EDIT)
Don't Let This Farewell Be Forever....
DESCRIPTION
Partings, short or long, to me, have always held a lot of poignancy and some sadness in them.

Once I just sat thinking about the different kinds of partings we humans must go through, and that I've gone through as well ... like growing up, letting go of old associations and relationships, losing loved ones to death and demise, going somewhere far away ourselves, bidding farewell to a pleasant guest, having a friend move away, leaving an old school or job....whatever the occasion might be, "farewell" has always been a somewhat hard word for me.

Suddenly, in a short-lived burst of inspiration, I switched on my computer and typed this litle thing out in a few spare moments...the result; this tentative little poem, which is not good I know, but if it brings hope to someone who has had to say any hard farewells like me, I consider some litle part of my job done. :)

Peace. :)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
About Me? You ask....

I'm a sixteen-year-old girl going on seventeen, with a brain stuck high in the stars, and a head full of dreams,

Poetry is what I do best (I think): it comes naturally to me...through it I write about how all things to me seem.

I love reading, I love writing: my imagination is wild and unruly - I think too much; I love to daydream.

I can't help writing, (tho' some of my pieces, in retrospect, sound incredibly dumb)..but hey, what can I do, it's in my blood!

=)

Don't Let This Farewell Be Forever....
Reema Parwaiz Khan

Don’t let this farewell be forever,
Don’t let this goodbye be the last,
Don’t cut off all of my hopes for the future,
Don’t leave me to dwell on an obscure past.

Separation is sad, but I know somewhere some how,
I will meet you and then greet you over again.
Don’t let this parting be the final one now,
For estrangement brings great sorrow and pain.

Please say that this isn’t goodbye forever,
Instead say “See you later, till then good day.”
Don’t say that we will never meet again, ever-
Somehow, somewhere, there’s always a way.

I always hate to say goodbye,
“Till we meet again” seems better to say.
“Farewell forever” is too melancholy;
“See you later” seems to leave hope for another day.

“Goodbye”, “So Long”, “Bye Bye” “Farewell”
They don’t mean forever but just for a while.
So never say never, for I know you’ll be back,
To bring back onto my face a smile.

Go, then, if you really must,
But I know you won’t be away forever,
For in this belief I firmly trust:
That you won’t let this farewell be forever.

This parting in our fate might have indeed been written,
But God will make in our destiny a path,
Through which we can always find those who are gone, back again.
And then I know you will be back.

Don’t let this farewell be forever,
Don’t let this goodbye be the final and last.
Don’t leave me to dwell on an obscure future,
Or to be tormented by memories of the past….
