Dead On Arrival Abracadabra
The door of the ambulance opened to reveal
A horrifying sight that could not be concealed.
The man was scratched, strangled and beaten:
Behind it was a story that one could not sweeten.
His freedom refused and his body abused,
His soul was so much hurt and all of him was used.
His master made him work and the cook made him bitter.
How very fortunate that his neighbour knew better!
Mrs. Walters next door knew about the slavery.
She noted the slaveˇ¦s extreme bravery.
Filled with pity for the unfortunate man,
She put on some clothes and off she ran.
In the police station she reported the vicious maltreatment.
The officers hopped on the van and was ready for arrestment.
When they arrived at the scene they saw the manˇ¦s condition
And knew perfectly well what to do in this situation.
The ambulance was there and the man was inside,
While the abusive master had to swallow his pride.
And now that the man is in casualty,
The doctors and nurses have reached a corollary.
With so little chance of present survival,
They concluded that the man was dead on arrival.
