ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I love reading my old stuff. It shows me how bad I really was. So I culled a little, getting rid of the truly terrible stuff, and leaving some of the semi-terrible stuff for laughs.

I've been published in a poetry book (The Nightingale). Oher then that I have no real 'accomplishment' when it comes to writing. I attempt to be honest in my work, drawing very rarely from my experience (I have a drama free and relatively boring life) and instead drawing on imagination and my family and friends.

I write better when I'm in a depressed mood. So that's why at the moment I rarely write. that and it doesn't matter if I write or not.

Dale
Chloe L Batey

It's been half an hour since somebody, told me that Dale had died
Half an hour since the awful news came out.
Sitting trying to be brave and not cry, i bite my fingers,
I try to think of something happy, Jasmine sits there quietly, not a tear,
not a word, just staring blankly, my brother -Steven- sits there asking questions
'did he die instantly?' 'Was it painful?' 'If you were Dale would you have known you were going to die?'
Dad doesn't know... I look at Steven a tear runs down his face, he runs away, crying,
I stare at the Christmas tree, looking at the red bauble,
"Chloe, are you ok?" Dad asks, that short little setence unlocks the tears building up inside me
Flinging my head to the lounge i sit there crying,
Mum sitting next to me try's to pry me away from the lounge so she can hug me
I don't budge i dont move, i sit and cry...
"Smo, come on give your mum a hug" Instantly i decide to give mum a hug.
Dad wonders off to find Steven, Jasmine wanders off to her room,
I sit there still, crying and crying, and then i think there are no more tears left in me.
But the Funeral came... crying as My aunt and Uncle sit there tears streaming down their face,
Grandma in her wheelchair, felling guilty,
Everyone wearing sunnys trying to hide they're grief
Then I think about Dale, I almost laughed ou loud,
thinking of him burning Pa's fence, thinking of the week i stayed with him,
thinking of him doing everything he did,
I realise that i'm glad that i had known him, im glad that he had touched my heart
in such away to make me sad, i'm glad that i was part of the circle of friends and family,
but i'm sad that i didn't get to know him better.
