Contradictory Deliverance
Colin Baker

People, their faces
like rippled moons,
keep telling me things.

'Both generosity and thrift are
virtues' they say...
'Both extravagance and meanness are
vices' they say...

Like pebbles pitched into a pond,
their contradictions make ripples
in my mind.
