Butterfly Love Briony Carvalho
It peeks from beneath her meshed fingers
Fragile, perfect, ephemeral
A rush of emotions? a twining of souls?
It's tiny wings burst easily at the loss:
Fidelity, trust
Turns it into an insect, a bug
Unbroken it soars, It's beauty unsurpassed, it's symmetry perfection
Its wings like breath, a lovers breath on a porcelain neck
Fingers entwined even in sleep
Breath mingling into one
Wanting to climb deep inside, touching isn't close enough
Too many tears and it drowns
Too much protection and it breaks
Too much freedom and it flies away
She peeks through her fingers and wonders if she should let go
