A Step Up From The Ground
DESCRIPTION
Alexia was a normal girl, living in a world that fears of a war are around every corner. Her family moved to another town.She left her friends behind. Her relationship with her mother started to go down hill, and her marks at school dropped.
The only way for her to survive was to leave home. As she traveled along the road, she hitched a ride with a man. He was called Fredrick, a man with no job and no home. They traveled together along the dusty road, leaving their past behind.
As time went on, she relised that her home was everything she had. Fredrick had dumped her in the middle of nowhere. She begain to relise that nobodies perfect. She met people who lived in houses with holes in the walls,and rats crawled through their clothes. Alexia had to leave. She hitched a ride to Auckland, her father lived near by. When she knocked on his door, he was gone.
She was stuck living in a city. The only way for her to be strong, is to step up from the ground, and become strong in her Mormon faith.

Scene one: IN A CLASS ROOM.THE STUDENTS ARE READING A NOVEL,WHILE THEIR TEACHER READS IT TO THEM.

Mrs Anderson: As you see her children ( Two students look at each other and whisper "Children"), Catherine Cookson is a brilliant author. Her works speak many languages. Do any of you have any questions?
Jared: Can you use the book as loo paper, cuz in the boys toilets there are no more. Mrs Anderson I really need to go.
Mrs Anderson: Jared McDonald I see that you prefer to teach the class, how to be a total drop out. If you keep on this track young man thats exactly where your heading.
Amanda: Mrs Anderson, unfortionatly, he is telling the truth, I went in there this morning with him, to teach him how to do first aid.
( Class laugh)
Mrs Anderson: Oh, dear, Amanda, you should leave that filth outside. You are suppost to be a nice girl not a filthy minded child.
Amanda: But it wasn't filthy, we prepared first. You know condom and all.
Mrs Anderson: (looking shocked, while the class laugh. Amanda and Jared kiss passionatly) Amanda and Jared you must stay behind. Everyone else you may go.
Jared: Mrs Anderson, Alexia joined us too. She does great BJ's.
( the Students look at Alexia as she opens her mouth in shock)
Mrs Anderson: Is this true Alexia?
Alexia: It is not. I don't do that.
Amanda: Don't lie. Your mouth was over him like cap on a bottle.
( the class start making a sucking sound)
Alexia: Why are you doing this Amanda?
Amanda: It's the truth Mrs Anderson. I am telling the truth. Bless my soul on it.
Mrs Anderson:All right all three of you stay behind. I am calling your parents.
( Alexia starts to cry.After the Teacher walks out)
Jared: So Alexia, was is it like being stuck in a situation like this?
Amanda: Yeah, comeon. I thought you were a mormon girl!.
Alexia: You are sick, both of you are. Why did you bring me into this?
Amanda: I am getting sick of your goody goody appearance. You needed a change. Even though what me and Jared did accured. I thought what the heck, Ill bring you in too.
( they turn to the front of the class room as Mrs Anderson walks in)
Mrs Anderson: Unfortionatly I was unable to get your mother Alexia, but I will ask you some questions and record your answers on this and show it to your mother. As for you two, your parents are coming.
Alexia: Mrs Anderson, I didn't do what they said. Im innocent. If you want to know where I was at the time Jared and Amanda were doing their thing, I can get proof that I didn't do it.
Mrs Anderson: Ok, I believe you,you may go. I am sorry I brought you into this.
Alexia: That's ok. I will see you tommorrow Mrs Anderson at church?
Mrs Anderson: I might be late, but I'll see you there.
�(Fades as Alexia walks out the class room door)

SCENE TWO: ALEXIA'S HOME

Alexia: hi mum. How was your day? (says as she walks through the door)
Mother: why are you late?, I have been worried sick about you. You haven't cleaned your room up and you need to go down the shop
