     A Mysterious Dream
It was a strange dream. Everything happened in a place far, far away I do not know where, but it was surrounded by nature. I remember best a silent lake in front of a house. Part of this lake was encircled by yellow flowers. This crescent of joyous color made the water seem very fresh somehow through my wondering eyes. The lake was clean no dirty leaves or sticks drifted on the surface, and the water reflected many kinds of midnight blue tones, caused by the shade of the house and other surrounding plants. This lake seemed to be made by man because it immense rocks, looking like the shoulders of giants, were poking out of the water. It was unnatural that they were there. Beautiful ducks, white as the faces of saints, swam in there and looked delighted to be there.
Suddenly in the dream, I realized peacefully I was there because I needed a time in my life to reflect and to be free of everything that had once tortured me, such as insensitive lovers, oblivious friends, and pointless jobs. The house that stood there, wise and solemn in front of the lake, was pure, eye blinding white. The roof had a triangular shape, like one of those pirate hats folded out of paper. On the highest top of the roof there was a bell, ancient, rusty and made out of copper. It seemed to have once been used as a church bell, it still had a presence of majesty. The house looked so grand and world knowing that it resembled a great mountain. What also caught my attention more was the old, crumbling door in the center of the house, which for some reason was covered with iron bars, as if it didnt want anyone to enter. Yet that did not worry me much, for at the left side of this door, there was another door from which you could see through a little, and if you strained, you could get a glimpse of the other side of the house and a little of the background view.
Everything seemed so serene and I could feel all of my worries slide off me like raindrops. I lay down on the beautiful, soft earth and drank in the view of a wonderful light blue sky, and its white clouds as fluffy as cotton. I could see the branches of the eucalyptus trees on the right side of the lake and smell their copper like scent. The last relaxed thought I remember having is dreamily thinking the branches of the eucalyptus trees resembled the arms of lost souls. Perhaps it was this negative thought that ended my safe haven. I do not know. I only recall that it was after this, in the dream, that I started to hear the screaming. The hopeless, relentless screaming that started softly, and only buzzed against my ear. Uncomfortably, I told myself it was my imagination, and continued to concentrate on the immense expanse of the sky. Then the screams slowly grew louder and louder, until it was if a radio were being held against my ear. But it was not the volume that made terror rain down on me like icy pellets. It was the sheer hopelessness of it. Then suddenly, brutally, with a jolt, I realized whose voice it was. It was Josephines, the house keepers. The screams, that at first seemed to be meaningless, immediately I understood them. It was my name. For a mysterious reason Joephine was howling my name over and over again. When I realized this with horror, I sat up rapidly and I looked at the door and no one was there, but when I looked at a small window on top of the door, I saw her with a terrified look on her thin face that matched the emotion that had seized my heart inside me.
I ran toward her with difficulty, for my limbs seemed to have transformed to lead when I got up, but maybe the real reason was because I hated to see her like that. Josephine, who was always so happy and forgetful, so filled with terror. Besides, a strong wind was whipping my hair into my wide eyes, moving the branches of the trees and causing a desperate moaning sound and mixed with her screams and made me want to drop to my dreams and wail stop it! Stop it! I felt more exhausted as I ran towards the house, but when I reached it. I banged frantically on the iron door, I kicked it, but it wouldnt budge. Whats wrong Josephine? I yelled finally, looking up at her. Whats the matter?
Then, she opened her mouth trying to say something and... I woke up. Just thinking of this dream, makes me feel that terrible fear all over again. I never knew what happened and since then I am living haunted by it.
