A Long Night

The awkward silence of an unsure feeling.
As I lay in bed, eyes fixated on a blank white ceiling.
Re recounting sheep to realize that sleep...
Will never come, no battles won, and so come madness creep.
Wondering minds define the sleepless night.
And the restless heart relentless, to prove who's right.
Passion as dead as the shapeless dark surrounding.
Imagination takes form, alarms perform of insanities sounding.
Down and out of my head, instead, aimlessly moving ahead.
Paralyzed by a wall, I stall, when this fleeting hope has fled.
Taken out back, double barrel, for every meaningless mistake.
It takes the final sleep, recounted sheep, for an unsure mind to break.
