A Monster And A Masterpiece Diana Angela Chang
There is sunshine in the morning But for me it is always pouring A stranger to myself I await Hopeful I anticipate Longing for freedom from captivity To gain forgiveness and empathy Ridding of all negativity I’ll never be the same Daddy you’re the one I blame You gone and completely defiled A young innocent juvenile These crimes you cannot reconcile The exemption of a pedophile A predator without a file Be glad you stood no earthly trial I come in uncertain peace from a crooked mile A girl undone, a woman incomplete It seems all I do ends in defeat Because my foundation is not concrete And love I let die and happiness deplete I am an educated fool Not being used as a developing tool Dictator of myself without governing rule A rocket ship idled without fuel You know what you did I was just a kid And the dealer had the highest bid But not all evidence was rid I saw for myself Photos sold for public shelf A sincere apology would have sufficed It should have been clear and concise On your death bed you refused Now you’ll pay the ultimate price And reap what you’ve sown thrice Since you’re gone, may it be done in your afterlife
Chorus: Now love I push away Battling each day Since adolescence without fun and play Since that dark and stormy day Through my forgiveness your debt is paid Many times I have prayed That you be released Fly to heaven and be in peace Depart without worry You’ve created a monster and a masterpiece
I am burdened with wrath And all men are on my warpath They say victims often become the psychopath But this is just the aftermath No one will truly understand the depths of this despair They will only notice my wanton disregard and lack of care Now ask yourself is that really fair? A victim unheard Yet I find forgiveness in the word My life I am trying to reconfigure Keeping my angry finger off the trigger To love I am blind As to myself I cannot love because I cannot find So I begin this journey to free my heart, soul and mind After all I don’t want to be a failure left behind By this event I will not be defined I will not let it dictate my life I am someone’s mother, someone’s wife I will bear this testimony with pride This secret God said not to hide It shall be written in a book to help a few So a gray sky may turn blue
Chorus
Do you remember all the zest I had? Because once upon a time you were a great dad Now I am a weathered flower Did you nurture, build and empower Indeed but all was lost in that dark hour As it chained me in a secluded tower Without sunlight and water for my soil Caused me so much anguish and turmoil Like an olive tree without oil On my own I learned to both recoil And practice how to stay loyal I have a heart that commits And positivity that emits I grow exceedingly as time permits This world, not very fond of it Added much natural heartache and bodily pains A white fleece with stains Seemingly unshakable I remain Strength I have, but endurance I cannot ascertain I always break or am given up on But it’s a new day, a new dawn The lord I shall call upon My intellect, compassion and courage I will always have to fall back on On bad days when it is not clear Just who it is staring back at me in the mirror.
Chorus You may have taken a piece of me But peace you cannot take from me So I am setting us both free Don’t worry you’ve created a monster and a masterpiece
