Planting Lilies On The Blood Stained Road Annacat
The oldest story ever told
Power has its own reward
When one man takes firm hold
He defends it with a rock and sword
The oldest story ever told
At some point it becomes too much
There remains no reason to believe
When a tyrant so out of touch
His only power is to deceive
It becomes too much
Raise your voices and your guns
Now or never and they will come
They see our pictures in the news
How could they possibly refuse?
But when you should come and share the load
You're planting lilies on the blood stained road
You can see him kill our children
Can you ignore the cries of pain
Do you know the tears of people
No matter where they came
All taste the same
Did you see the ruins of a city block
You think it's defense but it is not
It is simple murder by decree
And it is all out there to see
And still you
Ignore what you can see is true
Make believe this doesn't involve you
Argue that it is just too hard
Pretend you never knew
But when you should come and share the load
You're planting lilies on the blood stained road
It is too late for most of us
But one message to the rest of you
In a time of absent trust
When you don't know what is left to do
You will stand side by side and die
For what you believe is true
And you will have hit the motherlode
Resting in lilies on a blood stained road
