What He Is Worth Coreyr Strahan
My father always taught me, the true value of a hard earned dollar.
And that it should never be, at the top of my life's lists.
He always told me to give. Remembering our needs were so much smaller.
Preached to me to say my prayers, and try to never use my fists.
Hes never kept an enemy, and always another friend hell take.
Doesnt like excuses, but his compassion was never saw as fake.
Chorus:
Hes the first thing that I see every time
I say the word proud.
I always heard him say he loves me
But he rarely spoke it out loud.
As tough and strong as a mountain yet,
soft as a pillow inside his heart.
He always showed me the finish line so that
Id have the nerve to start.
If anyone were ever to ask me, what exactly he is worth.
Id say as much to me as the sunshine is to the earth.
Now Ill admit there were those times,
I thought he must enjoy my pain.
I had to grow and learn the signs
To see he did it all for only my gain.
Told me never worry, about the things we cant control
And that the hearts of the girls should be the only thing stole.
Chorus:
Hes the first thing that I see every time
I say the word proud.
I always heard him say he loves me
But he rarely spoke it out loud.
As tough and strong as a mountain yet,
soft as a pillow in his heart.
He always showed me the finish line so that
Id have the nerve to start.
If anyone were ever to ask me, what exactly he is worth.
Id say as much to me as the sunshine is to the earth.
It is now my turn in the role of father to a son,
And quietly he laughs at me as I stumble my way through.
Yet my goals the same to someday be the one,
Who gave enough and proved I could finally fill his shoe.
Yet now I see him play the part of Ol Grandpa,
And show a side of tenderness that as a boy I never saw.
And Ive been lucky enough to have him there for me.. Since birth.
