AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (17) A Foreign War (Songs) A song I wrote about a relationship I was in. [92 words] [Relationships] A Lost Conscience (Poetry) I recently had a bit of drama in my life. I ended up sleeping with a girl that my best friend really liked. I know, not good. But I think it help explains the poem. Any feedback is really appreciated. [173 words] A Midnight Journey (Poetry) I wrote this poem after getting lost in the woods while camping. It ended up kinda as an allusion to death too. By the way, try not to drink and wander. [131 words] [Mind] A Simple Night (Poetry) I wrote this about when you're in a fight or broken up in a relationship and you know it is time to go back. I guess just read. [126 words] [Relationships] Castles (Foreign) We place these castles on the wall. Never thought they’d crumble, never thought they’d fall. [191 words] [Relationships] Dressed In Black (Poetry) I started this one out as a song and changed it around into a poem. I guess it was just a compilation of feelings I get when being with that special person. [155 words] [Romance] I Killed Her (Poetry) A short poem I wrote about screwing up a relationship. [64 words] [Relationships] Love & Hate (Poetry) Well this is about the darkest thing I've ever written. It's about betrayal and hurt. By My Soul Eric Richards
Took a trip down to the lake
Thoughts of her body in the sand
My mind begins to shake
I do not understand
She knows my knees are weak
But she leans me anyway
Her fingers strain to speak
I bend to touch her flame
It's burning to the sky
I feel that I might cry
To feel heaven at my feet
And I know I can't leave it
No, I can't leave it
Chorus:
I'm lifted to higher ground
My words won't help me now
I'm holding on, yet letting go
She has me by my soul
She's pressed against my skin
My calm is wearing thin
She extends and I receive
Everything she means to me
Nothing's left to chance
I can feel it in her dance
Bitter tasting sweet
But always indiscreet
My heart is keeping time
And reason's left my mind
I'm frozen by her warmth
I could not ask for more
Could not ask for more
Chorus:
This breath is but a kiss
Turn and you might miss
The kindness in her stare
How was I unaware?
Of this shadow of a girl
Bringing hope into my world
Bring me laughter bring me shame
Bring me love and bring me pain
I wake and I'm alone
The air is feeling cold
It whispers of her hair
It's all that I can bear
I stand along her shore
I should've asked for more
I've held her enough to know
She has me by my soul
Chorus:
You tell me things
That awaken dreams
I know it's real
But so strange it seems
And that light inside
So bright your eyes
I feel your soul
And we are entwined
