A Song With No Name Jerry Short
I spent a night in chicago , a place they call O'hare
I was waiting for an airplane , I found myself a chair
When I sat down next to this older man , who sat there with closed eyes
He looked up at my uniform and it seemed to take him back in time....
Said he was goin home too , after all these years
Said he did'nt leave nothin behind , except his family and his tears
Strangers brought him to america , when he was just a boy
He leaned back , stared off and sighed , said that was ninteen forty five....
( chorus )
And he spoke of a , mama and a papa , a sister and a brother
That he last saw in that place , and as a tear rolled down his face
said he was goin back , to find , the ones he left behind
He asked if I believed in monsters , that come in the night
I said I did , but just when I was a kid , and he just closed his eyes
He said it seems like it was just last night , when they came and they changed his life
Then I began to feel , that maybe his monsters were real....
We talked untill they called his plane , and he told me all about that train
That took them to this awfull place , where he last saw his mother's face
And those of his family , then all he had were memories
How sometimes it made him cry , that he never got to say goodby....
After while he got up to leave , that's when I saw it underneath his sleeve
Even then I guess I knew what it meant , those numbers tatooed on his skin
I wished him well as he walked away , and to this day , when ever I pray
I thank the lord for where I sat , because I know that we must never ....forget....
( chorus )
And he spoke of a mama and a papa , a sister and a brother
That he last saw in that place , and as a tear rolled down his face
Said he was goin back , to find , the ones he left Behind.........

"I love this :) It has a similar feeling to it as garth brooks belleau wood. well done " -- Kymberlie Weir, Glasgow, Scotland.
"That was really beautiful. There were only a couple spots where I lost the flow, but honestly that could be rearranged with the right music. Very sweet and the description is just right. Loved it, thank you." -- Six.
