Get Over It
Cedric McClester

(1st Verse)
Though I detest what I see
Get over it youre telling me
Move on and just accept the fact
Instead of choosing to react
Youre asking me to ignore
Injustice poverty and war
As if they really have to be
An unchanging reality

(Chorus)
Get over it get over it
Get over it get over it

(2nd Verse)
Cos I dont like the situation
Thats occurring in our nation
Doesnt mean I should move
What the hells that gonna prove
Why should I turn in my freedom
Thats not how were gonna beat em
By losing our indentity
So you need to stop tellin me

(Chorus)
Get over it get over it
Get over it get over it

(Bridge)
What the founding fathers meant
Really is self-evident
We were founded on dissent
So why should I relent

(3rd Verse)
Im gonna keep on speakin out
Aint that what its all about
Or at least supposed to be
If in fact were truly free
And Im not givin up my rights
Just so I can sleep at nights
See Im prepared to take the weight
So fear wont rule me or dictate

(Bridge)
What the founding fathers meant
Really is self-evident
We were founded on dissent
So why should I relent

(Chorus)
Get over it get over it
Get over it get over it

(Outro)
Im inclined to keep it real
And so I speak on how I feel
Were not gonna ever rise
If all we do is close our eyes
To our faults and imperfections
There are things that need corrections
See long ago the torch was lit
And Im not gettin over it

"First of all, you should change your bio from "prolific" poet to illiterate moron - the word is "dissent" not descent. This nation was not founded on dissent but upon faith in God and a belief in human behavior. Those who worship dissent, like you, usually have great difficulty in finding anything to like, including themselves. Dissent for the sake of dissent is meaningless just as change for the mere novelty of itself is senseless. Fools like you have been whining and dissenting for ages because you don't have a positive thought or an understanding of what real goodness is. You should be singing that old Groucho Marx song, which goes something like, "Whatever they're for, I'm against it." " -- Richard.
"Thank you so much for the spelling lesson, "dissent as opposed to descent. You note the change i've made. I am so pleased that my work moved you to write. My aim is to provoke thought and dialogue. Incidently, I worship Allah!" -- Cedric McClester, New York, NY, 10029.
