34th Street L Chapman
i remember it like it was yesterday, even tho it was a long long time ago i can still picture it in my mind, how we danced up and down that empty road
you grabbed my hand and lead me out, onto the corner of the block you looked at me with a crazy grin, and kicked off ur shoes and ur socks
when i looked into your eyes i could see the love you had for me, and to my eyes it brought out tears i can still see it when i look at you now, even though its been many years
and i can still feel your body close to me, so close i could feel your heart beat that night we danced together up and down 34th street
there were no cars on the roads, nobody out that night just me and u and a path lit by moonlight
oh how i wish i could go back to that night we spent in the summer heat holding each other as tight as we could, dancing on 34th street
my hair is gray now, and so is urs, and we’re both not able to get around but when i look at u i can still feel that night we spent out on the town
even though i’ve aged, you still look at me the way you used to long ago and it makes me happy that you do, cause in my heart you’ll never be old
i hope our eternitys are spent, back in 1942 on that lovely summer night because we had everything we’d ever need, dancing in the heat and moonlight
swaying to the rhythm of a silent beat dancing up and down 34th street
yes we were swaying to the rhythm of a silent beat dancing up and down 34th street
