Lose Or Win, It's All The Same In The End. Emory L Griffin
"Mankind finally did it. They blew themselves up along with every damn body else in the world except for you all in front of me" Bill Earles said as he stood on the stage of an abandoned middle school gym. There was a group of 50 people in front of them and all of them suffered from some sort of radiation poisoning.
"So we fight the quarantine, therefore the government?" A voice asked.
"Yes, they are the ones to blame" Bill replied.
"Your right, to hell with them all, I say." An angry voice yelled from the back of the crowd.
"So all in favor of fighting, even with the threat of certain death?"
"AYE"
"AYE"
"AYE"
"NAY"
Everyone turned to look at the elderly man who had voted no. He stood up and said, "now I ain't never been no coward and don't plan on starting now, but I've fought for my country and I love my country, I refuse to fight against it."
"you will fight or we will kill you" a voice said.
"These are desperate times and we will not stand for traitors" Bill said.
Suddenly a report rang out, deafening in the small room, and the man who voted nay slumped over dead. The vote to fight was unanimous.
The soldiers in charge of the blockade of the town looked up to see a large group of determined people rushing toward them. Some were limping from gangrene the radiation had caused. Others were limping from botched amputation attempts.
The soldiers, not wanting to disobey orders for fear of being executed for treason, as many of their friends had, opened fire. laying waste to all the civilians.
