I grabbed one more box from the truck and brought it inside. The hockey game was about to start and the pizza man would be arriving any minute now. I knew they would have trouble finding this place looking out at my new estate. The sun was setting over the sheet of glass covering the lake. Out of the corner of my eye I saw some movement in the woods, but there were just trees. There I stood, nose pressed to the glass waiting. Almost seconds later a loud knick came from the door. I slowly cruised to the door sliding my fingers towards the door knob. As I peered through the peep hole I saw a Godfathers pizza hat. The door swung off its hinges as I leaped for the pizza box, almost shoving the mans tip down is throat. I scampered over to my sitting area just catching the opening face off.
I woke up that night to find myself lying on the couch. As I lifted my hands to rub my eyes I noticed the TV was off. I didn’t remember shutting it off, but I must have before I dosed off. I stared blankly at my watch noticing it was two thirty in the morning. As I put my head to the pillow I couldn’t help but think of the strange movement earlier that night. Who would be running around out there, and if it was someone what the hell were they doing.
That morning I was startled by a loud knock at the door, very similar to the one yesterday. I stumbled to the door grabbing the first shirt I could find. My eyeball crept to the hole in my door as I picked my brain for any possible visitor. I was pleased to see it was my friend Mathew hangin outside my house. “Wow man this place is sweet.” We both took a long look at the house before I invited him in for some coffee and a cigarette.
He helped me move the rest of my things into the house. That night we celebrated my house warming with a couple drinks and some pool. “Hey man can we shut that window its freezing in here.” As I went to shut the window I couldn’t recall opening the window in the first place. “Matt come see how close the moon is.” We both inhaled the night sky as we peered out into space. I was telling matt about the great fishing when he interrupted me with a quiet shh. “Dude, who is standing on your dock?” I flicked the light switch and the room became dead. The shadow crept into the water right in front of our eyes. Too scared to drive home we completed the night with good old fashion sleep over.
The next morning we whipped up some eggs and bacon before we hit the town. Today we were going shopping for a hot tub. A device that in the hands of two bachelors would be used for all the wrong reasons. We ended up picking out a spacious eight woman, excuse me person luxury Jacuzzi and spa. That evening we sat down to dinner with two lady friends we knew from college. After our meal we indulged ourselves to a couple bottles of wine and a dunk in my newest toy.
Wrinkly fingers and no alcohol indicated that it was time to take the party inside. While racing my friends up to the house I snagged my foot on my look to be a shard of glass. I was raced to the emergency room where they removed the object from my foot and stuck me with thirty three stitches. Later that night I came to find out the object pulled out of my foot was made of a carbon not found here on earth. The rest of the evening I was treated like royalty. Drinks, food and back rubs from a beautiful woman, “man I should cut myself open more often.” We all laughed and my dull joke and finished the night off.
Later that evening I woke up again. Lying in bed I sparked up a cigarette and looked out my window. There was an eerie fog that chased around gusts of wind sailing across my window. Out of no where a figure hovered past my window. The cigarette fell from my lips as my head rose from the pillow. The hair on my back stood as adrenalin was rushed through my veins. Then through the fog a face came to my window. Like a ghost it disappeared into the night. All light around me became dim and I could feel my senses slowly fading. My paralyzed arm reached for my glasses as I sat in a puddle of extreme fear. Intense throbbing was coming from my foot was I swung my legs to the floor. As I began to stand I remember my knees collapsing out form under me as I fell to the floor. Everything else was an unmemorable dream.
I like to walk by the lake from time to time looking at the trees and listening to the different noises they make. And when I walk up and down the shore I feel as if something is carefully watching my every move. I forgot the last time I fell asleep without thinking of all the different things that could have been staring at me through my window. I hope I never have to see anything like that ever again.

"Nice story. Good ideas. This story could be improved 100%, though, if you just revise some things. First, when writing your story, make sure you eliminate ALL gramatical errors. Second, when you're finished, read an re-read your story to make sure it sounds as you want it. I think you should elaborate more on the impotant events, talk more about what happens with him seeing the thing out of his window, and the object getting stuck in his foot, etc. Overall, though, your story is very good" -- A.P. Williams.
