The little orange and black-striped beast tumbled down the steep riverbank. It landed in the shallows, and the small mass yowled in suprise at the feel of the icy water seeping through its coat. Heaving itself to its feet, the tigercub shivered, and then trotted off once again through the dense, lush jungle. "Mother!" the cub cried. "Mother, where are you?" Her large paws took the little tiger forward faster, and she broke into a lope. "Mother, come for me! Come for Mahadarya, your daughter!" A shower of hard nuts and fruit pelted down upon Mahadaraya, and the cub cried out, leaping forward to avoid the onslaught. The monkey tribe whooped and swung in the trees above her, flinging twigs, branches, anything they could set their hands upon. "Go from our forest!" the beasts shrieked at the tigercub. "You hunt us and eat us and now you believe you can take over our trees. Never!" The tribe screamed and cast insults at the running cub....to be continued....
