  An Unfair Destiny:

I am at jail for a crime I didn't commit. Two years have passed since that event, and still I can't forget what happened. I don't understand why I become guilty. I had never done anything bad. I decided to kill my self, so I am writing this letter to the judge telling him that life sometimes is unfair, and how everything happened. From the time this happened to now that there is no reason for me to live.
It was the year 1985, September 4, three days before my best friend birthday. He was 12 year old, and his name was Mike. At that became, best friends like for 11 years. In that moment I was 13. We had become best friends because our families knew each other, we had grown up together, and we are also neighbors.
Mike was a very smart guy. He was very excited because they were only three days left before he was 13 years like me. He had asked his father for a plastic gun as his birthday gift. He knew that I had one, so he wanted one for him self, but not like mine. Mike wanted a more realistic plastic gun, mine was red and blue.
Three days pass. It was Mike's birthday. My family and I went to give him the gift that my mother had bought for him. When we got to the house I could see that his father had bought him the plastic gun because he was very excited
When everyone was going to their homes, and the party was finishing he invited me to his room. I got to his room, and a colorful box was on top of his bed. He told me to get closer to see what was in its inside. I got near to him, and he opened the beautiful box. Inside there was a gun, his own plastic gun, but this wasn't a normal plastic gun. It threw little plastic balls, but its appearance was exactly like a real one. It hadn't anything different, well there was a ticket, but he unsealed it because he didn't like it. It was so realistic that if you point it to someone the person would think it was real.
Almost a month had pass by, and he got a bad grade at school, so his father decided to take his gun away until his grades went up, and he was doing well in school. Mike wasn't happy because he had promised me that we were going to play again. Now that he didn't have his gun he couldn't even play by himself.
After 4 days my parents and Mike's parents were invited to dinner. It was an adult dinner, so our parents were looking for a baby sitter, but they couldn't find anyone, Mike and I started saying to them that we were already big, and that we could take our selves without someone older than 18 years.
" We are 13 years old, and you are saying us we can't spend some hours without someone watching us or what." Said Mike.
"Let us stay alone, we won't do anything wrong," I concluded.
They were convinced, so we decided to stay at Mike's house because it was bigger than my house.
Our parents went to their dinner, so Mike told me that we could play with our plastic guns. He said that now that his father wasn't there to take his gun away we could play with it. I went running to my house, and I brought mine. Then we started looking for Mike's gun because we didn't know where his father had put it.
Mike and I looked for his gun all over the house until we found the place where Mike's dad had his real gun, to protect the house. When we opened the drawer there were two identical guns. We didn't know which was Mike's gun, so we took both of them. I took one, and he the other one. We started looking them closely until he said, "this isn't my gun pass me the one you have. We switch guns. I placed the gun that I had in my hands inside the drawer. Meanwhile he was pointing the gun he had toward his head to see if the plastic balls were inside, as I was placed the gun I had in the drawer I felt the sticky part where Mike had unsealed the ticket. Rapidly I turned to tell him that I had his gun, but Bang! He had shot himself in the head. I went near him, and I tried to keep him alive, but the bullet passed through his brain killing him.
The neighbor heard the shot, and came to see what had happened. I had left the door opened, so the neighbor entered easily the house, and went to where I was. He saw me all cover in blood; so he called the ambulance, and the police thought I was responsible for what had happened.
When they arrived they took Mike to the hospital, and a detective came to me, and started asking me questions. I told him what had happened from the moment I found which was the plastic gun, and why we were looking for it. He took both guns, the plastic, and the real gun, and put them inside of a plastic bag, and he went to talk to my and Mike's parents that were arriving from their dinner.
It was the next day after the accident. The detective arrived to both houses with bad news. Mike had died. Then he told us that he had found my fingerprints in the gun, so that made me guilty of Mike's murder. I remembered that I was the first one to hold the gun in my hands, so my fingerprints were on the gun. My and Mike's parents were crying because of what happened. They couldn't believe that I had done something so horrible.
At court the trial was death. Since I was a minor, first I was separated from my parents, and entered to a jail for kids younger than 18. When I turned 18 the judge would decide what to do. There was not any evidence so they wouldn't found me guilty.

That is why I am in jail. My family became enemy of Mike's family. I am 15 year old, and I have to spend the rest of my life here or at heaven. My parents came to see me sometimes, but they got bored, so I don't see them so much. I don't understand why this happened to me. I preferred to die. "Than to live in this unfair world."
