The door swung open and grazed her chair, soon followed by a young man, who jumped out and looked at it and then at her.
"Hey, this is a new car, why don't you watch where your going?"
"What?" she said back.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't realize..."
"Didn't realize you're being rude, or didn't realize I'm in a chair?"
"I thought you were some punk kid on a bike..."
"And that gave you a reason to act like an ass?"
"Well, listen lady, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were...".
"Well say it. I know I'm in a chair. But at least I know I'm civilized, which is a little more than I can say for you."
"Wow, is it being in the chair that made you bitter or...?"
"Bitter? You almost hit me, then you yell at me, and I'm the bitter one? Honey, Come put your head on the ground, so I can run it over for you. I don't think you need it... there doesn't seem to be a brain in it anyway."
"Wow."
"Wow, what?"
"You're really cute when you're angry."
"I'm really cute most of the time. When I get angry, I'm positively ravishing."
"And funny too."
"And funny too."
"So what do you do for fun?"
"I run into strange young men's new cars, then run over their handsome and empty heads."
"Touché. But what do you really do for fun?"
"Take me out to dinner and I'll tell you."
"Dinner?"
"After lunch, before breakfast, remember?"
"Are you asking me out?"
"Are you taking me out?"
"I've never been with a woman that's..."
"I never date empty headed men either, but I think in your case I'll make an exception..."
"Roger." He reached out a hand.
She takes it.
"Monica."
"Promise me, Monica, you'll go easy on me."
"Only if you actually prove that you're head isn't as empty or thoughtless as my first impression of you."
"Done. And Monica?"
"Yes?"
"I'm glad you ran into me..."
Monica flashed a smile, looked at him and the car door.
She wasn't going to keep her promise at all.
At all.

"Great short story, sounds like something my 2nd year english professor would have had us read. I hope Monica gave him hell." -- Gina Jauregui, Chicago, USA.
"I smile softly each time I read this...I've noticed you don't often do a lot of dialogue in your stories so this was a special treat...So has Monica given him hell or has she been laid to rest? (hedgehog774@hotmail.com)" -- Hedgehog, Canada.
