Once I dreamed my tears away
Hoping that there would be a day
Someone would then look at me
What would they see?
What would I be?
They tell you to open up
But wicked words are never enough
I know I'm not what they will claim
No need to feel such shame
No need to take such blame
Of most cruel things I'm accused
Betrayed, forsaken, hurt, abused
Do they really see no good?
Perhaps they could
But never would
I must resist despite the lies
This is why I close my eyes
I know what I am to find
I know you're in my mind
I know our hearts will bind
Once you said I was your prince
And I could feel it ever since
There was something to live for
I could hope for more
I hadn't lived before
Someone saw there deep inside
Underneath such wounded pride
Something warm and still true
Confirming what I always knew
And waiting there for you
Those who hurt are always close
They want to destroy, and to expose
I am not the monster they create
Their closeness is a bait
They plan to hate
I still dream my tears away
Hoping you will come my way
I know you are the key
You are the one I see
Just look at me
