TITLE (EDIT) A Versifier Writes A Verse To Honor The Worsifier
DESCRIPTION
This is a satirical poem I wrote in honor of one of my favorite poets, Ogden Nash (nicknamed the Worsifier.) It is written in his unique style. [123 words]
ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Daniel L. Mishkin is an English major at the University of Southern Maine. He has had work published in 'SP Quill Shadow Poetry magazine' and the Martha Stewart publication 'Everyday Food.' He currently lives in South Portland, Maine and works as a professional childcare provider. [March 2009]
AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (1) What's A Delaware (Poetry) This a Petrarchan written to emulate a children's poem. I have found that using the form, with the context of children's lit creates a Seussian sound that works well. [108 words]

God Bless you, Ogden Nash!
Although some of you poems could be rather rash.
Whenever life got me down I could always
know as much.
When I read one of your poems life didn't
blow as much.
Yet although I'm glad your works Norton didn't
seem fit to edit,
I don't think our poetry teachers ever gave you
the credit.
Not that I didn't like reading about Prufrock
or Leda.
But we had to analyze them so much it felt like analyzing
bio-physio-geological data!
But your poems were simply, hilariously super
Whenever I read them I would laugh myself
into a stupor!
People can say what they want about you, but I know
that this much is true,
When it comes to cracking us up, Yeats, Pound, and Eliot
ain't got nothing on you!
