Flowers For No One
John Yeohann

Her eyes were aglow, she would meet this man
Who promised her a life full of love
More stunning then a Princess, a countenance brighter then the Sun
Skin softer then the gentlest dove

Her heart raced within her as she drove to the place,
a restaurant by the sea
They were to meet at Seven but she got there early
She is punctual, dont you see

Three hours pass "Perhaps its the traffic"
she ponders within her mind
"Honey go on home" says the waiter inside
"This cat just aint worth your time"

She heads on home but it is hard to drive
when your eyes are full of tears
Like a Flower for No one that begins to wither
When no one has loved you in years

The woman he has loved since he was a kid
has said "Yes" to the movie at Eight
It stars Eddie Murphy playing three roles
He tells her "It will be great"

He has little cash and his shirt has a hole
But he shaved and he's been working out
He rushes down to the florist before it closes
"Two dozen roses for my lady" he shouts

The credits roll dauntingly down the screen
of the film he watched alone
He will let his eyes dry of their tears
before he heads on home

Twenty four roses sitting alone
on an empty parking lot
Flowers for no one withering away
Echoing love for naught.
