Red Bewilderment William W. Degravelles
Red bewilderment
Drives the faded dream
of glory
of equality
of pride
Soldier after endless soldier send an immortal
feeling to this vast empire.
The Luftwaffe screams its power through jet
engines designed to kill, and only to kill.
Dictators slam fists and shout words of supposed wisdom to zombie ears no longer truly listening.
Is all this glory?
Perhaps
But perhaps there is a reason they named it cold.
Is all this equality?
No, each person is poorer than the next.
Or is their pride?
Yes, there is pride
But it was pride that destroyed them, and it will be pride that crumbles us as well.
