 She Searches in Vain

Her lonely eyes
Wait
Silently pleading
For more time
Her eyes move
to the window
For another glimpse
of him
just one last time
on this day so cold
her final moments
as the clock ticks down
no where else to turn
her arms folded across her
breasts as if holding
herself will replace him
or erase the pain she feels
She searches, without hope
Without a plan of escape
No solace for her broken heart
Her breathing anxious, her mind
Empty of further thought
Needing him, forever waiting
In vain
This room too small will make her
Go mad
Hes the only one who can release her
From the prison, she now lives
This box, no key, no exit no escape
She reaches for her shawl
to cover her nakedness
her lips parted mouth a silent good bye
as the moment has now arrived.

Winter Beach

Winds blow along
an empty beach
gray skies palled
dubious with snow
Slowly it begins to dust the ground
a lone seagull searches
looking for scrapes of food
oblivious to what else
may be going on
a music pavilion in the foreground
stands empty now
ghost echos of summer sounds
rebound in the rafters high pitched roof
a man walks into view
he heads to where the tide meets the shore
looking at the horizon and further down
no one else around
He does not notice the cold for the minute as he
pauses.thinking
of something or someone who knows his
reason to be here now at this very moment
the man now realizes how cold it has become
and it interrupts his thoughts
he looks up to the sky and sees the snow as
a child would with wonder and surprise
he begins to walk and behind him his footprints
fill with the snow that has now etched itself
in the sand.
Momentarily he was there, now hes gone.

Last Minute

As the clock ticks
Minutes down
A question of fate
Belies the fact that
For the prisoner now
pacing round in his prison cell
this one last time his mind begins to race
for his life as he knows will soon be gone
his time for redemption will be claimed soon
enough once he makes it over to the other side.
******************************************
 To The Beach

Seacoast and seagulls
Flying above
As high cliffs of sand
Blow swiftly downward
Cascading through high beach grasses
No travelers travel to waters so cold
Whales in their playgrounds of watering grace
Find tails flapping and bodies soaring
As currents go past the sunsets
Bright orange
The footprints erased.
********************************
Take Wing

Gulls circle
Stealth pursuit
Searching frantic
Cutting through
Razored beaks
Elusive flesh
Spilling out
Panicked frenzy
Cawing ensues
Insults continue
Defensive attacks
Tumult unabated
One daringly
Breaks free
Stolen prize
scattering flocks
Take flight
In pursuit
Leaving frustrated
Empty stomachs
To mock
Their plight.
