I Hate Poetry
I have to write poetry,
Which I cannot do.
You've never read my stuff,
And if so, I'm sorry for you.
Come, deliver me,
From phrases and rhymes.
Take me away,
To a beach with limes.
You may even say,
"But you're writing poetry now."
I look at you and say,
"Maybe so, but you look like a cow."
I continue to you,
"I can't write it very well."
You read in astonishment,
"What the hell?"
"Just by looking at it,
I see it rhymes and it's long.
But the way you write,
Sorry, but it's all wrong."
"I told you I couldn't write,"I say,
In an 'I told you so' voice.
I know that I can get better,
But that isn't my choice.
I don't like poetry,
And I hate to write it.
And if you don't accept that,
I say, "Live with it."
This is my life, my future,
To decide that is my right.
I've decided, it's not Poems,
But Books I wanna write.
