My Great Grand-Dad Green Emerald
You used to rub your nose against mine
Every day was full of sun shine
You walked slowly to our house
Creeping in quiet as a mouse
Sometimes you'd walk straight past
Missing our house, walking past
I'd call you back out the window
You'd turn back and I'd follow your shadow
My father was your oldest grand child
And I was your oldest great grand child
Never did you want to intrude
Sometimes you acted a bit crude
Even in your old age
You'd still sometimes get in a rage
If no one listened to what you had to say
If no one invited you to come around and stay
Never did you want to be a burden
You was ever so stubborn
If it wasn't for you we'd all be back in the land of poor, back home
No school, sitting by the stove, on the hard floor, no where to roam
You are the one who settled here without a penny in your pocket
You sold up everything and brought your family to settle in Britain
A family bond you tightened
Never did you let us go short
This world needs more of your sort
You never liked to spend money
You'd be rolling in your grave if you were to see
The horse & carriage that carried you away
The flowers that we laid
The solid coffin that was made
Now my son too has a Great Grand-dad who comes to play
And I look forward to each and every day
It brings back wonderful memories of when I once played with my Great Grand-dad
Who certainly was a Great Great Man
