Leaving you behind
Have you any idea how much it hurts inside
Waking you up so early to dress you
Heating up your milk, even scrambled eggs too
Dressing you in what ever suits
Putting on your matching boots
Hearing you repeat my name
Over and over again
Running around after me
Not letting me out of your sight
Then crying when I disappear
Giving yourself a fright
Have I become your life like you have mine
Do you want me to take you outside
Do you want to come for a ride
Oh my sweet boy I can't take you with me this time
I promise to come back at Nine
Sneaking away from you
Shutting the door behind
Hearing you kicking the door
And swearing inside
Wishing I could run back and curl up in bed with you
Wishing I didn't have to leave you
I didn't sacrifice my life just to leave you behind
You are a part of me my sunshine
Watching the clock when I am at work
Wanting to hurry back and take you in my arms
Then when I finally do arrive at the door
You don't want to come to me no more
Calling some one else mum
How could you do that son
This is why I will have to leave
