The Hick Poem
L Chapman

whats wrong with the dollar store?
just because you shop there doesnt mean you're poor
so what if my toilet paper just costs $1
i drive a pick-up truck and live up a holler
my tralier ain't new, and i sleep on the floor
maybe thats why my back always stays sore
so i bought some icy hot rub for a buck
and then on the way home someone shot at my truck
a bullet whizzed past my head
it came from the gun of my neighbor Fred
he was out hunting without his glasses on
he thought my truck was a deer, probably a fawn
so i forgave him and invited him over for steak
he said i was an excellent cook, haha he didnt know it was fake
we then went down to the creek to fish
we each tossed a penny in the water and made a wish
Fred wished for happiness, for all to make love not war
i wished for some carpet, cause i sleep on a dirt floor
my tralier aint supported by concrete blocks
its rests on the ground, so i always gotta wear socks
and so what if i dont have a phone
those damn bill collector's wont leave me alone
i owe them a lot for buying that tractor
i never did use it, me not having a farm was a big factor
i wish i had me a 4 wheeler
a big yellow one with big wheels would be killer
i'd like to ride one out in the hills
past where all the dope heads live that like to pop pills
hey did u know the dollar store sells asprin for a dollar?
you get 180 tablets that aint hard to swallar
yeah i know i'm a hick and i talk mighty funny
but just cos you go to the dollar store dont mean u aint got no money
