It's That Time Of Year

Memories of Christmas

When I had pigtails and believed in Santa Claus
All the world was right

When I had freckles and a bruise on my left knee
I had dreams and hope

When I heard reindeer on my roof in New Jersey
I had stars in my eyes and a heart full of wishes

When I heard sleigh bells and Merry Christmas to all!
I knew nothing bad could ever happen to me

When I awoke Christmas morning and saw a new bike
I knew that the world was a good place

When I left Santa cookies and milk and a Thank you note
There were no terrorists in my head

When I put my pigtailed head on my pillow that night
I didn't dream of 911 or suicide bombers

When I curled into a ball with my favorite dolly
I didn't wake up afraid that I would be shot in the street

When I drank my hot chocolate and made Christmas cookies
I didn't even know of a place called Iraq

This Christmas there are alot of kids that don't know that either
They are asleep in their beds dreaming of sugarplums

My Christmas wish is that everyone remember what we're fighting for
We're fighting for pigtails, sugarplums, hot chocolate and a whole lot more.

Merry Christmas...
