Duke Sekhon

Before the Cause the Will must bow!

All hands to the prow!

Before I'm done for and laid low

With desperate speed I must row

Through Misery's despondent sea

To the isle of golden dreams -----

Or else, by Despair, shall sunk be.

Come Winds of Change! blow my sails;

Come Happy Chance! lend your aid:

Don't just rock and roll my boat

Or stir false hope with empty boast,

But convey my bark at full speed

To yonder isle of golden dreams.

To Schools of Philosophy I turn'd

Life's true meaning to read:

But sombre words no secrets yield;

Spirits and narcotics, by Disillusionment bread,

Consort with Relief but with Grief are wed;

Religion, in ritualistic beliefs too steeped,

Reveals no awakening but puts faith to sleep;

Spiritualism perceives only conceptions untrue ----

Like the dude, who thinks everyone else a fool.

Whom shall I turn for help?

Who shall me help?

Surely by Misery I shall sunk be

Before I gain the isle of golden dreams

Is there any help? For God' sake, help!

O woe is me!

I weary.I weep.I sigh.

My limbs are aching , my vision blurred.

I stumble.. I drift.. I close my eyes.

Aah.I sink..I float...

I float on aery tides.

What's thatthat milky white

'tis the place.the curvature..the line..

Where Heaven and Earth kiss and embrace

And the many iridescent colours around

Mingle and diffuse into a misty white -------

Behold! A Heaven on earth, an Earth in heaven!

Surely! 'tis the isle of dreamy delights.

Aahlong last I reach its mysterious, permeable beach

And gain at last what lay beyond human reach.

duke the muse
