A Winter Night Sky
Gerald Scruggs

The glow it cast is almost magical as it illuminates
the landscape with it's wintry glow,
The trees and their surroundings glitter with beauty
for they are covered with ice and snow.

I must take in this beauty and cherrish it for I know
this sight before my eyes will not last,
It takes me back to years gone by and reminds me of
the memories I have shared with the past.

It looks as if though it has turned the night into day
but with a gentleler more peaceful light,
I find myself captivated and at ease yearning to keep it
the way it is, to freeze this picture of the night.

For when darkness is upon me I find myself unsecure and
all my doubts try to make me weak,
I welcome the light from the moon and stars that bestows
unto me the courage I seek.

I sytand tall and face my challenges, each one testing me
to my limits it always seems,
But to see the sight I see tonight I know that I
can follow my dreams.

For what purpose does such magnificent beauty serve unless
it is to offer hope to those who dare to dream,
I can now face tomorrow with encouragement and determination
and I owe to this winters night sceene.

So when it seems that the weight of the world is laying
heavily upon your shoulders and seems to much to bear,
Look up to a winters night sky and search for your dreams
and I promise you they will be there.
